I'm going to start by saying I wouldn't return to this building even if my life depended on it. I'd prefer to allow my skin to be melted off within a nuclear fallout than even seek refuge here.
A table of lovely women requested where their food was as they had been waiting an hour (it wasn't busy enough to find this acceptable)To which point we also asked if our food was going to be long as we weren't prepared to wait an hour. Shortly after, the manageress comes over "well actually you only ordered your food 25 minutes ago and you were told it would be 30 minutes when you ordered because it's so busy"... - first of all is this how you answer a simple query? And secondly I wasn't told this, to hear response of "well you should have been" .... but still a simple "yeah your food is going to be 10 minutes" would have been suffice instead of the belittling "matter of fact" attitude.
The concept that a "restaurant" can serve food that is of lower quality than me and my 7 year old make at home is laughable. The service was shocking. No cutlery, dirty table, a cheese burger with no lettuce or sauce was ordered... turns up with lettuce and sauce. Sent back. then it turns up with nothing... not even cheese. It's ressolve by bringing a slice of cheese out of the kitchen. Professional restaurant standards. Burgers were utterly appalling I seriously reccomend you do not eat a burger here.
Margherita pizza was good, hats off to the pizza chef.
So no cutlery, dirty table, poxy attitude from a simple question, and poor food we were leaving unsatisfied. Putting the children in the car to leave and carry on with our day... the manageress decides to approach me and my partner at the car whilst we're trying to put kids in the car seats. First and foremost if we had wanted to complain and/converse with her we would have approached her away from the kids. Done it in a professional manner, but no not for this viscious, self righteous purveyor of terrible food and worse service. It starts arguing with me and my partner Infront of the kids. To which point I tell her the issues plainly and how unprofessional and disgusting her behaviour is. To which all she could muster was to place her hand on her hip, roll her eyes and repeat "no need to shout"...
So get yourself back to school and learn the difference between tone and volume. Talking to you in a serious tone because your appalling behaviour has upset me is a key, to shut your mouth and listen. Quite frankly you approached my car in a car park for nothing other than an argument and never in my life have I ever been met with such an aggressive and rude tactic. You behaviour is the exact reason I will never use any generous George chain again, have written a complain letter to head office and have had great pleasure in explaining how dismal an experience we had at an establishment you "run".
I wouldn't give you any stars but unfortunately that's not possible. If you're considering a little trip out for a quick easy meal, save your time and effort and go somewhere else. Somewhere your wife and children won't be accosted at your car by a bad breathed, bad mannered beast. If ever there was a time that called for our disappointted photo in a local paper with a short story explaining how you ruined our family day. This was it. Anyway I hope the humour I've tried to put in here doesn't mask the severity and just how disgusted at this entire situation we truly are, and trust the formal complaint to head office fully entails all details with less of a playful sense. (Gotta keep it fun for the...

Read moreThe old Ashdene pub is a very attractive and enviting place for locals and tourists. They offer a mediocre variety of different meals and drinks, and have exceptional staff who are friendly and welcoming and it has a great atmosphere. We were greeted in a couple of minutes of entering, we chose a table at the back near the pool table. It took a little bit of time for the waiter to come and ask for the order and also it was around 35/40 minutes to get our meals. One meal which was a chicken and bacon salad with French dressing and slaw. The meals came out separately how they were busy and understandable. Everyone enjoyed their meals and most finished the whole meal. The chicken and bacon salad was a very tasty salad with a good selection of salad leaves and a side I'd definitely recommend is the George's Slaw #awesome. The dressing was French dressing which tasted a little like it was lacking in seasoning and flavours such as a bit of lemon juice, balsamic or a bit of white wine vinegar perhaps would have spruced it up, I could say I thought it was shop bought. Perhaps due to the time it took for the meals coming.out and staggered the chicken was over cooked, well dry and a bit tough. The portions were great and the salad slaw great, one other thing spring onions and the sliced cucumber are best as a garnish on top, and not underneath the salad with cooked meat as they were slight warm and lost the crunch and flavour somewhat. I think this pub has great potential if it could be a little bit more attentive. Everyone in the whole enjoyed their meals and time in the pub, as my family are regular customers. Staff are great very friendly and helpful, great location easily accessible with wheel chair access too. They have an outdoor seating area with heaters and tables etc and it's great to see dogs are permitted, they have a water keg and bowl for dogs outside, and a nice garden area with a children's play area. The food and drink prices are very reasonable. Fab cocktail raspberry collins Lasagne
