Honestly, a beautiful place and the gardens are so lovely. Cafe however… odd procedures and significantly average food, terrible customer service. Breakfast menu finished at 11:30, lunch service starts at 12pm, therefore a half hour gap where you can only order cake. From experience, as soon as one food service ends, another should start. We have a 1.5 year old, and as most people know, toddlers don’t have the same schedules as adults. We went up to the till point to order my daughter a cheese sandwich, to which we were turned away so abruptly by a power hungry member of staff, saying we had to wait 7 minutes before we were allowed to order, we weren’t wanting to order anything cooked, just a cheese sandwich for my daughter… anyone can make that… no option to pre-order, just ushered away… no friendliness, flexibility or general polite reasoning around this, just someone who clearly took joy in turning us away. Parents, be warned, not accommodating for littles, plus they had the most awkward and smallest highchairs which were sticky and grubby. When the food eventually came out as we had now met the strict rules and regulations of ordering, the sandwich was dry, basic cheap grated cheese, the thinnest 3 x cucumber slices I’ve ever seen. I’ve never left a review like this, all I wanted to do was give my daughter a...
Read moreNow, I would give the food a much higher score as mostly it's very nice. Lovely mixed salad and the crisps are different but nice. what let it down was we ordered a sandwich and the bread was just awful! totally stale.. I couldn't understand how someone would make a sandwich with such bread! Apart from this one thing everything else was great here it's a shame that this is what let it down. If we were offered some free coffee or a refund for that sandwich I probably wouldn't of bothered to write this review. Also the salads could be bigger but that is a nitpick. Just stick with the Paninis they...
Read moreWe went to this café for lunch on Mothering Sunday, having booked a table in advance. The café was quite busy but not crowded. You select your food, go to the pay desk to place and pay for your choices and then wait for it to be delivered to your table. Despite the business we didn't wait long and the food was quite hot. The portions of food were good and well presented. If you can trust the weather then there are plenty of tables outside around the pond. We hope to go back again...
