Very poor experience. 2 adults and 2 kids on a birthday meal treat for our twins and first time out in 2 years. Green King app was very fiddly and time consuming. Had to ask help to use it because it doesn't show you an option for kids meal deal, it expects you to add everything correctly and it will do the discount at the end. Very confusing. After taking 45 minutes of trying to order, the app said the Carvery wasn't available, even though it was, so had to order through a server anyway. We then had the server/waiter come back twice to tell us they didn't have what we ordered. They had run out of chicken strips and chicken wings which meant we couldn't have the fully loaded chicken strips or order the chick 'n' mix meal deal and most of their chicken menu. Because we wanted something with chicken and had been put on the spot twice we rushed and ordered the mini mixed grill. The chicken was inedible and the rest of the meat was merely acceptable. One of our little ones had kids pizza. Looked and tasted like a microwave pizza. The only one of us that was happy with our meal was our other little one with the kids Carvery. Bless our server, he seemed to be fairly new at the job and was trying his best, but had to come back and looked really embarrassed, especially the second time to have to tell us our ordered food wasn't available. He had a good attitude and was very apologetic, but this is aimed at the management. Our server told us that they had run out of chicken the night before. If you can't communicate to your staff what isn't available, so that it can be communicated to your customers before they start to choose what they are going to eat. Also reading back on past reviews it's not the first time recently that you have run out of basic cooking ingredients, so maybe a review of Stock control might be in order. This isn't the first time we have come away from this establishment unsatisfied so before you give your general copy and paste response of giving you a call, I don't see the point, I won't be returning and it looks like the same comments keep coming up in the reviews so it's not like you guys are taking on the feedback and...
Read moreI had organised a family xmas meal for 16 of us as we rarely all get together. I chose this place because of the good reviews and recommendation of food. Prior to visiting the communication was extremely poor. I tried calling various times with no answer, left messages which took at least 7-10 days to get back to me. So I was really concerned.
On arrival we were sat in a room with others when I was advised we had our own function room! There was no highchair which I asked for prior to our visit and it took 30 mins to turn up. We ordered drinks on the app which took at least 40 mins to arrive. The manager informed us to let her know when we wanted starters bringing out as we had reordered our food for the adults and not the kids. We said we would ordered the kids food and then let her know. 10 minutes after this half of our starters arrived. We said we were not ready for them yet as the kids food had not long been ordered. They brought them anyway. We were given half the starters and 30 mins later given the next set of starters. So half of us were eating at one time and the other half had to wait alongside hungry kids! The chicken strips were inedible so were the brie bites. They were hard and tasted old. The carvery was nice but service was so slow. We waited in the queue for 20-25 minutes just to get served. This meant again people that hadn't ordered carvery were eating without us. What was meant to be a family meal wasn't as we all ate at different times apart from the desert. The drinks service was so slow, we weren't asked if anything was OK with our meals, plates were cleared slowly and overall it was just a disaster. I complained at the end and 2 meals were taken off the bill which we appreciated but it was a disaster from start to end. It ruined a nice family meal and none of us will ever visit again. Also the state of the toilets was appalling and on the toilet check list ot showed they hadn't been checked for days. Read moreTried calling to book a table for a large party. No one answered the phone (33 times over 3 days!) Unable to leave a voicemail, so emailed the site and contacted through Facebook messenger multiple times to no success. A member of our party ended up going in to book a table and was able to do so. When we arrived, we were taken to our table (the greene room) to find it freezing cold and had a large damp patch on the ceiling in the corner. We were advised to order food on one table number and did so. Food arrived for 4 orders/families over the next 45 mins to an hour. Staff didn't seem to know what was going on, and when asked where the last order was, we were told that there had been a situation and food was on the way. By the time all food had been served, 3 out of the 4 had already finished, even though all orders were made within minutes of each other. No one was completely satisfied with their food but was at a point of knowing it would be a long wait if they sent it back. I ordered a chicken bucket with mac and cheese, corn cob, and BBQ beans. Beans were cold and had clearly had bbq sauce mixed through. Mac and cheese was extremely bland with no real taste. Chicken wings had been deep fried but had no seasoning at all. Chic strips were dry like they had been held hot too long. Fries looked and tasted like they were the left overs that had been flashed back in hot oil. Ice cream was ordered for 3 children, taking over 30 mins to be served to the table. When asked, staff said that it had been sent to the wrong table. Over the next hour or so staff came to clear the tables and then never returned to finish. My children and others in the party enjoyed the indoor play area. It was a shame it was raining as the outdoor space looked nice. Overall we all left disappointed today, my wife and I have a lot of love for the place but it seems the staff don't care or the management are letting it slip. We won't be returning...
