Stayed at Parkhead Station for one night on C2C stopover.||Guests should be aware that this is a no frills accommodation - no WiFi, and very bad phone signal.||Owners are also still very Covid cautious, so expect to wear masks in all communal areas, and have your temperature taken on entry. This is their right and should be respected. It does mean you can't sit downstairs unless it's outside.||Bikes stored in shed outside.||The B&B stands on it's own so you do need to pre-book an evening meal (6.30pm is latest sitting). Food was hearty and excellent and service very friendly (although made us laugh that waitress didn't wear a mask after the copious safety precautious).||Room was small, but perfectly adequate with nice shower en suite and great views.||We stayed in Waskerley and even manged to get mobile data, which we couldn't elsewhere in the building.||Breakfast had to be chosen the night before - no cereal etc (suspect for Covid reasons), but cooked breakfast was more than enough.||Very warm welcome and really good stay.||Would definitely recommend and...
Read moreWe were trading at the Stanhope show and had decided to stay over rather than travel each day. What a great find this was! From the moment we arrived until the day we left, the service was excellent. Located up in wilds with fantastic views in all directions and no light pollution, with clear skies, the stargazing opportunities are good. So, back to the accommodation, comfortable beds, warm room, quiet and the evening meals were good. Lorraine was the perfect host, making sure we had all we needed throughout our stay, even finding time to sit and chat with us and the other guests in the evening. As we were up early each day, we skipped breakfast, opting to take up the offer of a sandwich, and it was a nice touch. We would certainly recommend a stay there or even just call in for a coffee if you...
Read moreA welcome sight for anyone doing the C2C at the end of your 2nd day to Tynemouth. Sitting on top of a hard climb up from Stanhope, it is perched at the summit with very little else around you. We had not pre-arranged food before we can but the owners were great and provided us with a three course meal of homemade soup and bread, beef rolls and a choice of pudding for afters. All top notch. Server beer and wine too so had a Boddingtons to wash it all down. Dining area has a wood burning stove, so a very welcome and relaxing area to sit and chat. Rooms are comfortable and we shared 3 to one room with our own toilet and shower room. We kept our bikes in a secure room away from the main building. There's a nice little café attached to the main B+B which I hear is popular with cyclists who...
