This place is lovely. I would say it's always advisable to book, as they only open Thursday - Sunday. It's situated in the most beautiful position, in a sheltered corner of the moorland just below Shining Tor, and it faces a spectacular view of Shuttlingslow, the Cheshire Plain, and the Welsh hills. I would also be inclined to check the weather forecast before venturing up the Cat and Fiddle pass!! We were delighted to see a lapwing pecking around in the café garden!! There is a patio at the front - on the rare occasions when it's warm enough to sit out, what a fabulous place to eat!! The food is delicious, generous and unpretentious. We had poached salmon sandwiches with a large salad, and ordered some curly fries to go with it. The brown bread was hand cut and fresh, and the salmon filling was so good - no added mayo, and didn't need any. The puddings absolutely tasted homemade - I had a gigantic piece of coffee and walnut cake, and my friend went for the crumble of the day, which was apple and plum, smothered in custard. There's an incredible choice of cakes! The service was friendly - we were asked several times if we were happy with everything....which we were! This café has been there for many years - my 90 year old neighbour remembers going up there as a girl in the 1940s and 50s - long may it last!! Hoping to go again soon.

Perfect Pit Stop with a View – Great Food & Even Better Service! Me and my partner stopped off at Peak View Tea Rooms on our drive from Sheffield to Manchester, and it was honestly the highlight of the journey. The place is super clean, cosy, and the views are just stunning – a proper peaceful spot to take a break. The food was brilliant. My partner had a massive jacket potato with a generous salad on the side – proper good portion. I went for the panini, which came with a nicely garnished salad and some of the tastiest chips I’ve had in a long time. Everything was fresh, well presented, and full of flavour. The staff were lovely too – really friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be stopping here again next time we’re passing through!

They were busy. Some confusion as every one of the many empty tables was reserved. When we eventually spoke to someone they gave us one of those. They slightly messed up the food order. They earned us that ticket times were 45 minutes. It was a long while but I don't know how long. The food just wasn't very nice. I'm not sure why. It tasted like it was all frozen stuff. My roast pork was very dry with not much flavour. Stuffing was the size of a large marble. The sea bass looked like it came from the store rather than a fishmonger. For what it was it's overpriced. If the potatoes had been peeled that day and roasted then, that would have been good but it was maybe frozen ones that had been fried for speed. The place has a lovely view, is comfortable and the wait staff try

My sister and I entered with 4 older ladies that we support to a very unwelcoming and hostile atmosphere from the staff. All tables seemed to only accommodate 4 people, so we politely requested if we could move a nearby table to add on to ours to make a 6 and then leave a 2 (obviously we would move this back once finished). All of the staff seemed to deliberate over this in the kitchen for a significant amount of time, all staring over at us making us feel very uncomfortable, and then we were told we weren’t allowed to move the tables. I politely asked why that was and they refused to give a reason and just walked off. We had to move 2 chairs to the end of our table of 4 (leaving us very cramped) because we could not leave the ladies we support unsupervised. The wait time for food was 45 minutes despite them looking like they were at half capacity, and most people in there had already had their food anyway so I couldn’t understand the reason for this - no doubt they would have refused to give us one anyway much like the table situation. We were actually quite relieved in the end that we didn’t get an extra table, as they were all disgustingly sticky anyway and it would have only meant more unclean surface area for us to dirty ourselves with.

Truly disgusting place that I will never return to, and will make an effort to implore others to do the same. If you don’t want to miss out on the nice views then I’d suggest parking up in a lay-by, bringing a picnic and sitting on the grass - it will be cleaner if nothing else.

Edit: Response to owner’s reply / lies

What a pack of lies, I can categorically say that none of us were rude in the slightest. Your pathetic attempt to discredit my review just shows your lack of integrity and the lengths you will go to in order to protect the reputation of your business. If the reason for not wanting to move the tables was indeed that you didn’t want to block anyone (which I can’t see how anyway), then why didn’t the staff member simply state this when I asked for a reason instead of saying there isn’t one? We stayed despite your tables being disgustingly sticky because we made a special trip out to visit you, there is very little else around, and we wouldn’t have had time to get anything elsewhere so unfortunately had to stay to avoid disappointing the ladies even further. Trust me, if it were just me I would have left without ordering. Nonetheless, us staying does not invalidate the fact that your establishment was unclean. You take absolutely no accountability for any of the negative reviews you receive, and instead go on the attack against every negative comment. Maybe you need to take more of an objective view of your business and realise that sometimes it may not be as perfect as...

Before I begin, I would say again, as I said to the Owner, I would visit this café again, especially if the weather is more favourable as the location of the café is just stunning, the menu offers food priced very reasonably and the portion sizes were generous.  The area outside offers parking and plenty of outside tables & seating with panoramic views of the distant hills.

We arrived on a cold rainy day, running across the car park, in the pouring rain to enter the café through an outside lobby into an internal porch.  A welcome glow from the warm wood burning stove in the hearth – tick.  The team stood waiting to check us in on a list of reservations made for the day.  System allowed space for Walk ins. Organised – tick.

Gluten Free options offered – 3 TICKS !!

The Ham, Egg and chips appealed to both of us, so, as we were dining out, I chose the Ham and Cheese Panini with chips. The menu did not mention ham with Egg and Chips was “Served Regional style” as, if this had been the case we would have asked and learned that the Ham was served cold, on a cold plate & cold ham (three reasonably thick slices) took all the heat out of the poached egg (that was served on top of the cold ham)…………..  The chips were very lightly cooked and took on an only just “text book” light pale golden colour but would have been much more palatable with a little more deeply golden hue.

I would offer that the menu listing of Ham, Eggs & Chips is amended to add the further description “Served Regional Style” as then the customers might know or ask and learn that the ham is served cold, on a cold plate (then topped with a warm egg that quickly becomes cold…)...

I don’t normally leave reviews but after our experience today I was very frustrated. Having visited this cafe back in July with our 4 week old Baby Boy, we decided to go back today as our last experience was pleasant and thought it would be nice to take him back…. After a 40 minute drive we arrived, walked in and noticed the tables on the right were reserved so found a table for 2 in the corner on the other side of the cafe so decided to take a seat as no one said hello etc, probably busy which is ok. Sat down for a few minutes and no one came over so my partner decided to go to one of the staff members and ask for a Menu, she didn’t open her mouth and nodded. Then another young staff member came over to our table and said you can’t sit there as it’s booked… I said there is no reserved sign on the table and said when is the person due to which she replied 15 minutes…. We are sat with our 5 month old baby and basically got asked to leave. She didn’t even say if you sit in the car for 15 minutes we will have you a table. This could have gone either way with me asking to speak with a manager but I decided not to waste my energy as they clearly didn’t want our custom. I actually felt sorry for the messenger who had to deliver the bad news and she was very nervous and felt it was unfair on her when we had spoken with the other staff member. We jumped back in the car and went to the cafe at Arighi Blanchi. Never again. Disgusting service and looking at the response by the owner, they clearly have no customer relation skills either and simply don’t care. What a response. Anyone who took their business seriously would not...
