Called up this morning to make a booking to be told by the girl On the phone that they no longer take bookings but I didn’t want to make a 40 min drive up to the pub to be turned down but she reassured me that there were plenty of table available for walk ins. So we made our way up to basically to be greeted with a rude unhelpful member of staff who claimed she was the Manager. She wasn’t interested in what I had to say just kept repeating her self saying ‘ there was nothing she could do there were no tables available’ so I clearly wasn’t happy with my first greeting as I walked into the pub. I asked to speak to someone above her then a lady appeared to my side saying she was the main manager how could she help. To which then she resolved the problem straight and got us a table was very helpful. I was absolutely mortified to find one of my party members felt uncomfortable due to her race, she felt like the first woman who dealt with us was looking down upon her. As we were was not greeted with a smile just funny stares upon entry and refusal to be seated! So what was meant to be a lovely day out turned out to be a judgmental day by one awful young lady with a bad attitude. Will definitely not be returning due to her lack of customer care and the girl on the phone giving incorrect information. Which is a shame because there were some lovely staff members who worked in the pub named amber and Eli thanks to them who made us feel a little more at ease. Forgot to mention there were plenty of empty tables through my whole stay there

We stopped here today as a family of 4, with 2 children under 4, on our way back down the M6, mainly in pure hope than expectation, and because it's rather avoid eating at a service station if it can at all be helped. What we found was an unexpected gem. My wife and I both had the carvery, which was very good. My slight critism would be that all of the veg pots were running low / verging on empty when I came through. That said there were full ones at the back, they were just inaccessible to me. The food was also piping hot so no complaints there. I had an issue with my pig in blanket bring overcooked, I spoke to the nearest member of staff, who happily exchanged it and bought me another for good measure. Our boys are from the kids menu, as well as tucking into some of our roasts as well. Their food was very well priced. The plates were a little small and served with frozen chips and a very small portion of beans. The sausages were however much better, if somewhat tough skinned. The best part for our boys was the playground outside. It was a good size plenty to do and has a wacky warehouse attached. Some of the items could do with a little TLC and maybe a wipe down every once in a while but the boys had a great time playing. Lastly, the staff were all good and friendly. My biggest critism was that the gents and the baby change could also do with a good clean, TLC or even revamp. All in all, we'll be back again when traveling past.

Nice tidy clean pub/ restaurant. welcoming, organized friendly well informed staff who have a genuine smile which really does make a difference. Roomy Excellent large tables and seating area. A little dark in places but not overlay so. Carvery and menu food, we tried the carvery which was well prepared and hot, not mean with the meat. Well presented large portions off the menu. Really friendly welcoming family atmosphere. Reservations taken, children welcomed and well catered for, whacky warehouse is the children's favorite. All sorts of party's catered for. Coffee and tea available. Wheelchair friendly. Excellent large free car park. A very nice experience. Will use again again and again. Really is one of the better eateries with child entertainment.Prices are well reflected. A visit is a must.

Hate writing reviews like this, and debated whether to post or not.

Lovely little place! Just a shame about the atmosphere and the lack of team members. It’s not their fault. But the company should sort out the labour!

One barman, one manager and one server. And by the looks of it only two kitchen TMs. Went for a carvery and it was fairly busy. Didn’t know whether to sit down or wait to be seated so asked the floor TM and he didn’t seem best pleased and rushed off his feet. Quite rightly too! A lot of decent tables were reserved so wasn’t much choice especially for people with accessibility issues like us! Then once we ordered we weren’t sure if we needed a ticket or something for the carvery. So went straight up, some guests before us had a ticket so I then panicked and went to the bar to enquire. Bar man was busy but was preoccupied by some guests chatting about beer prices and that they should be lowered to get more people in (not how it works but I like the idea!). Didn’t even acknowledge me waiting. So I went and asked the floor TM instead and he said I could use the app as a ticket so we did! The poor guy on the carvery station was legit in and out of the kitchen constantly. Food was absolutely beautiful though. Really looked and tasted like a homemade roast dinner! Only other thing that let it down was some of the guests. Just sat there drinking ignoring their toddler. It was heartbreaking to see and hear as they were right in the front of the restaurant and were very loud. The poor kid just wanted to play not be stuck in the corner. Even other guests weren’t comfortable with it at all.

The whole experience made me very anxious and I won’t be coming back in a hurry unfortunately which is a shame! 😣😣 Again, I don’t blame any of the team members on duty. They did what they could given the tools...

After living only across the road and been my local that I use today I thought it would be lovely for my partner and children to go along for a meal with there Nan we had spent over £200 between us on food and drink and after spending 2 hours there outside my other 2 children got dropped off from there dads to be told by a member of staff it was only 6 at one table! No signs outside and I felt very embarrassed 2 other tables made comments about the way it was said so in all 5 adults and 3 children so I had to make 2 of the children play on the play area, one lady let my children sit at her table to have a drink!! Find this discussing, we are a family not a roundly bunch of couples. I will not be using this pub anymore and will go the old mill up the road where customer service means more to them !! I understand social distancing we are 1 house hold of 5 and my mums house hold is 3 who we choose to meet up with an no olther house holds. I felt I was a target for having more children if we had not got 3 children nothing would of been said to my self !!

Meal good, drinks good, staff serving could not of been better other than a female that came to the table to say that I front of everyone and then for her to bring another female out who stood and shook her head very humiliating well a round of drinks costing £30 we just drank straight away and left we will never return after that!! We work as key workers working with the Elderly and vulnerable and I Am shocked by...
