Portreath Tandoori — Restaurant in England

We ordered a delivery online via their website at 6:10pm which said it would take over an hour to prepare and deliver. We were prepared to wait that long, given it was New Years Eve. The timer counted down, got to zero, told us our food was "prepared", "on route" and "delivered", still no food. Tried many messages on the chat group on their order page, no response. Tried phoning, and eventually got through to a nice lady. She took my details, asked how I had ordered and said the driver was on the delivery round and my food would be with us soon. No food arrived, and we had been charged for a meal we didn't receive. I sent an email to the company that evening and received no response. I telephoned 5pm (opening hours) the next day and spoke to the same lady. She said she was shocked we didn't receive our order and took a few details, saying she would look into it. By January 5th I had still not heard from the business, and had not had a refund, so I sent a further email, which was responded to immediately by "Ali" who said the accountant would refund my money. On the evening of the 6th, I still had no refund, so again sent a further email which said the accountant was dealing with it. At 530 on Friday 7th I finally got the refund.

We don't mind waiting for good food, but the website is completely misleading, and I was lied to on the telephone. Disappointing as we had used this company in lockdown and the food was good, but this is an unacceptable way to treat a customer. We won't be using this...

Food was okay, but the place needs a good clean and some atmosphere.

We visited this restaurant (industrial unit) on a Monday evening in August 2025 around 7pm. Family of 8 and after a long day. It was empty and quiet, no music. The owner came and seated us at the long table, (there were only 3/4 tables set up) which was set with side plates, dishes and glasses and offered poppadoms and pickle tray. They arrived pretty quick but we had already noticed that the table had a thick layer of dust on it, as did the plates, glasses and cutlery. Reviews said 4 star and they display a 5 star hygiene rating. We ordered our food despite the dust and then the gent told us they had no drinks, not even soft drinks. He came with a jug of water.

The food arrived together after waiting approx 35 mins and was okay, one chicken dish could've been warmer, the chips were soggy fries, but the rice was good. They took notice of the request for no coriander on the veg dish too.

While we were there for almost two hours, nobody else came and the phone for takeaway didnt ring. All the food was eaten apart from fries and we all lived to...

Blatantly over charged. Family of 4 ate in. Food was ok, nothing special (albeit butter chicken was over sweet). They don’t have a licence so no alcohol. No atmosphere and only one person working the takeaway and restaurant. Empty so also no atmosphere in restaurant. Prices in menu were what I would expect for a good Indian. Shock however the bill when presented over charged almost every dish by£1 or £2 each. Only when I challenged it did they say - oh we have new owners and we haven’t printed new menus yet. That’s the new price… and still expected me to pay. When I refused they went to check with manager, which then was reluctantly accepted !!
