It was on my TO DO list for a long to try the speciality coffee @ Project Coffee supporting local businesses. So, I specifically drove to have a coffee this evening. I dropped in with my family - and asked for Cortado (I didn't read the menu, assuming it's not something special). The lovely lady responded, “we are only doing takeaways”, though it was about 45mins to their closing time. I said, “Ok.”. Now her question to another gentleman (maybe the owner), “I don’t know, “how to make Cortado” (pleased with her honesty). The gentleman responded, pointing to another lady, “it’s a double expresso shot with some milk foam, but (another lady’s name) can help you”.

That lady (apparently knew the Cortado recipe) started making the Cortado. I spotted she was using Semi Skimmed milk. I politely asked her, “can you please use Whole milk, as you need textured milk?” It looked like she was not happy with my ask, and then she checked the fridge and said, “we ran out of Whole milk”. I gave up at that moment. She filled the whole cup with milk and turned Cortado to Flat White - I didn't bother to prompt her because I knew it would not help. I had a few sips of it to get some afternoon caffeine and threw the cup into the bin. The Coffee taste is not mine - it’s subjective to an individual’s taste.

However, my feedback here is to share the experience and expect the owner to ensure the Baristas are Trained sufficiently. We all learn and evolve, and they may be making 100s of the best Coffees every day, but a customer only needs a nice cup of coffee. It was not a chain of a regular Coffee shop but a serving speciality coffee, so expect best in class experience.

I would be hesitant to...

I've been here several times now. It's a go to meeting place for catching up with friends. Always have a lovely time. (Their locally sourced vegan sweet potato and kale sausage rolls are incredible.)

However, after my most recent visit, I found myself reaching out to the head office @ project coffee email address to inform them that I had had a rather nasty incident with a Pork sausage roll that wasn't heated as well as it perhaps could have been and that I had been poorly as a result.

Sarah contacted me via both email and telephone, inquiring as to if I was OK and feeling better. She assured me that all staff have been reminded how to heat the food thoroughly before serving to avoid anything like this happening again.

Ash the manager, also called me, some weeks later, and assured me that the food preparation procedure has been reviewed, and investigated and assured me nothing like this would happen again. He also very kindly enclosed a voucher with tea and cake for my Mum and I.

Will it stop me visiting Project Coffee? No it absolutely won't. However, there is something to be said about being a...

Visited a couple of times where customer levels have varied. On each occasion, the staff have gone above and beyond to provide fantastic service, even when it has been completely packed and they have been super busy! They are super attentive, even by noticing we were sharing a sausage roll and bringing us an extra plate and cutlery before we got the chance to ask. The actual cafe itself is beautiful and so well thought out. It has a cozy vibe to it with super comfortable furniture, and there are charging sockets and WiFi so you could work or study comfortably too. We also noticed air con on our last visit which was fantastic as we were escaping the heat outside! The drinks menu is very broad, including iced teas and coffees, smoothies & milkshakes, as well as seasonal flavours. The food is also delicious! My personal favourite being the sausage rolls (they come in so many varieties). Project Coffee really provides something for everyone, and...

As an American, this place was disappointing. The espresso was ok, the milk wasn’t the best texture. It wasn’t undrinkable at all. Just not really good. The vibe of the place was great. I loved hanging out here for awhile. Very good friendly staff, and they seemed to know about coffee. I overheard a conversation between one barista and two customers and the barista had all the right descriptions of the coffees and the ratios of things, it just didn’t come out great in the results for me. I had a flat white and a cortado. In all, 3 stars in coffee, 5 stars for vibe. Balanced out to 4 stars.

Former barista here - I ordered a latte from Project Coffee but received something very bitter and undrinkable. I asked for a sprinkle of cinnamon on top and they put so much of it that it felt like drinking bitter dust. It was also incredibly hot and could not hold in hands (a sleeve was not provided). I would not even call that a coffee and certainly can do better at home with just generic supermarket coffee beans. Would not recommend Project Coffee if you care about what you drink.
