Went to experience the upstairs cocktail bar after seeing it on social media and the Food always looks amazing but never tried as yet!
Upstairs is like a cocktail lounge type speak easy vibe which was good, it's like a cosy sitting area, It is very compact but beautifully done out.
I Wouldn't suggest going with a group of friends I'd say it's more intimate, like a couples thing or two couples before or after dinner thing, bit pricey for cocktails but they were lovely, I felt a bit awkward going for just a drink upstairs as people eating downstairs and it felt to me like I was intruding on their meal.
Staff pleasant and friendly who served us drinks, I came downstairs before my partner as he was using the facilities, I thought he was just behind me and he wasn't and it was a very windy night so I'd left the door ajar for him coming downstairs unbeknown to me he wasn't right behind me and the door blew open a bit, instead of being polite and asking me to please come back in or please close the door because of the restaurant section, I had the door rudely shut in my face and tutted at.
I didn't go back in and my partner exited five minutes later, but it has kind of put me off, it's a higher end eatery I respect that and people were eating, but cocktails are £12 so we did spend money and still a paying customer.
A shame really as IV heard the food is amazing but I'm slightly put off and felt uncomfortable. Staff who served us in the upstairs bar were brilliant though and the venue though small beautifully decorated and done out, ideal for a romantic date night or meal for two...
Read moreWoohoo! A place with gluten free yorkshire puddings in their Sunday lunch. I appreciated the effort with the home made ones although I prefer the supermarket bought frozen ones - may be they just did not work out the Sunday we were in. Gravy (with red wine I think) was gluten free too.
The lamb was the best roast lamb you could imagine. The beef full of flavour on its own. Spot on and showed the chefs know what they are doing and choosing the finest of ingredients. My partner agreed with facebook that their cauliflower cheese is the best ever.
Prices are high (£10 for a dessert) but so is the quality of this place. They are not far off just missing a Michelin star. Worth spending a bit more to enjoy top notch food. So many places are expensive now and average. This is not a tick in the box get fed affair but a dining out experience.
Loved the decor and especially the cosy areas upstairs - would love to hire those for a special occasion.
Ambiance and noise levels were very nice. We were in for 2pm...
Read moreWe’re touring UK and Ireland for nearly 4 weeks now and we spent another 3 weeks in London. This is the best meal that I have had apart from those I cooked myself. We splurged and went for the date night steak and lobster which was superb. The steaks one medium and the other medium rare came out perfectly. I’m a great steak cook and I couldn’t do better. The blue cheese sauce matched perfectly with the steak though the pepper sauce could use a little more pepper for my taste. I’m not an experienced lobster eater coming from Australia, however, we had no complaints and the butter sauce went well with the crustacean. The greens and potato wedges went great with the protein. I’m a big eater and my wife is a small eater. There was plenty to satisfy us. The deal came with a bottle of Australian Shiraz in this case and we’re were very happy with this. The background music was Motown which was good for me and the staff were very accommodating and friendly.. I can recommend...
