We visited Red Lion sunday with friends. Staff was friendly and even was really busy and we had no reservation they found table for us very quickly. Very nice atmosphere. We ordered food and drinks. Drinks came pretty quickly, food took a bit longer, but it was very busy, so we did understand. We had coliflower wings and soup all of us the same to make it easy for chef. Soup was delicious.. coliflower was a bit disappointing as the portions were very small for £7 photo attached. We believe that the kitchen probably runned out off coliflower and split one portion between 4 of us lol. This is the only reason for 4 starts as that portion never supposed to leave the kitchen.

Another disappointment after complaining direct and being ashored that issues had been corrected we were left again disappointed , a table cleared to be seated was left with left over food on it , and rose wine was served with an ice cube !! Surely wine should already be served cold , really glad we didn't try the food as I'm guessing that also hasnt changed , please bring back our fabulous local pub .

Nice pub ideal for a base to walk around the lovely countryside from. Modern decor and a very nice lunch menu. I had a stilton and banana baguette with chips which certainly was different and would definitely recommend to anyone trying out this pub. The lady serving was really friendly and looked after us well. Will return for sure.

We pre booked for a party of 11 on sunday, we arrived on time and still had to wait over an hour for our food. 2 of our party were young children who were hungry so had to buy crisps whilst we waited for our food. When the children's food arrived they were the small Chicago town pizza. The adults ordered 2 x wexford steaks 2 x mixed grill and 2 x surf and turf, a cheese pie a fish, and a burger. Those of us that had steak on our order all requested medium rare, when they eventually arrived they were all well done. They peppercorn sauce that was requested only turned up partway through the meal and had to be asked for. The onion rings that were preorderd did not arrive either until asked for. We decided to order some afters(the cherry pie was nice) we also ordered 2 x chocolate brownie with ice cream. We were given sticky toffee pudding with no sauce. They said they were brownies when they clearly weren't...could see and taste dates. The member of staff with blonde hair behind the bar was very rude. We were planning on booking again as this is a convenient location for us to meet up. The lady that had only been working there for 3 week's was very pleasant and chatted with us before we left. I will not...

UPDATE - the manager spoke to the lady about the cigarette and it turns out it was a fake Halloween one - great work by the manager, addressing the issue promptly

My sister and I came for lunch and enjoyed some excellent food (my sister had the burger and I had the curry). The waitress was quick and attentive and the atmosphere was lovely - the fire was lit and the pub was very cosy. That was until the group of smokers and vapers that were sat outside, made their way inside. The group seemed to be local and familiar to staff. The issue arose in that the staff turned a blind eye to two members of the group: a man who was vaping inside, and then as we were leaving, a female in the group had a two cigarettes in her hand whilst stood at the bar - one lit and one unlit (it later emerged the lit one was a fake Halloween cigarette). It would have been impossible for the staff not to notice.

I did email management directly to let them know and the general manager themself replied promptly and was alarmed at what had occurred. He promised to deal with the customers and staff in question, he apologised and explained that this was not...

Have eaten here a few time and always had excellent service and food. Unfortunately this visit was awful, when we arrived the pub was quiet(it did get busy not long after) but we waited 15 mins before our drink order was taken. After waiting another 15 mins we went to ask if we could order our food. The scampi was very over cooked and very sparse with cheap frozen chips, the curry was more like a spicy sweet and sour. After eating some of the meal we then had to take out own plated to the bar as after 20 mins we got sick of looking at the left over food. Eventually we were asked if we wanted sweets and Unfortunately they were as disappointing. Ice cream sundae came with some small berries and 1 strawberry which was frozen fruit( infact it was still frozen) and it was minus the meringue and chocolate flake and the banana split was a joke. The presentation, service and quality of the food was a real disappointment and we weren't the only people who left feeling that way. Will not...
