We were a hungry family of five visiting the area for the week, and The Red Lion Inn was a fantastic find. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and offered the choice of the restaurant or bar—we chose the bar, which had a cosy, friendly atmosphere. The menu has loads of great options, but I went for the slow-roasted Dorset pork belly with herby fried potatoes, smoked bacon, onion & chives, apple purée, pork jus, and green beans—absolutely delicious and served piping hot. The kids were happy too, which says a lot! We were looked after by the lovely and friendly Lilia, who not only provided brilliant service but also joined in with helping us guess the song and artist titles playing in the background—such a fun extra that made the evening even more memorable. Grandad loved the Fursty Ferret amber ale, perfect pints to enjoy alongside the great food and atmosphere. There’s plenty of parking, a lovely garden, and a small play area for children—perfect for families. A real gem in Sturminster Marshal.

We visited the Red Lion on a Wednesdsy and were not disappointed. I had a special, the sea bass on a bed of crushed new potatoes with a delicious green pesto and green beans topped with fresh pea shoots. It was really delicious and so fresh. My stepdaughter had the burger with fries and coleslaw and it was a huge portion. My partner had the luxury veggie burger which he also said was really good.

Beautiful gastro pub out of the way with an amazing comfortable beer garden, toilets, plenty of car parking. The food is really well presented, great selection of beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks etc. Nothing too much trouble for the really polite staff. Would love to visit again !.

Well I must say I have been in a lot of poor managed pubs but this one is the clear winner, for Being the worst pub in the uk. food very poor and staff have no clue how to treat customers which I must say it’s not their fault as they are told what to do and say. I complained because one of our orders was not very nice so I sent it back I didn’t order anything else to replace it. The staff came over to our table and offered us a complimentary pudding to say sorry for the meal which we thought that was a nice gesture. When it came to pay they wanted us to pay for the main meal we returned and as we excepted the pudding it was to replace the main meal. The main meal was 13 ponds and the pudding was 5 pounds how can this be fair we offered to pay for the pudding because we had the pudding but the main meal was retuned untouched. I cannot believe that they would do such a thing I will never go in this pub again and think that pubs like this with no community values shouldn’t be operating. And is very short sighted as it’s a fast way to go under With COVID you would think that we should all support one another but clearly not for this management It’s all about the Money and not about the food or customer. I would advise everyone to find another pub that would treat you with a bit of respect.and genuinely Want to keep...

Extremely Disappointing Xmas Day Lunch After Spending£650 .The service and attitude was unexceptable the landlady coming to our table in front of everyone and disagreeing with what we had pre ordered and her attitude over 1 meal 11 of us eating and my brother waiting for his meal and got his when we had all finished. Not even an argument /disagreement to be had as we had a copy of the menu choices we had handed in to her a week prior to xmas day and paid in full There was no apology or even when we left not even thankyou for coming so so RUDE and spoilt Xmas Day for 12people you spend all that money only to be disappointed .I think I understand now why this was the only pub not full .booked for xmasday .Just sorry or an offer of a drink to compensate for...
