(Update at the bottom) The food was incredible for pub-grub and the most reasonably priced in the area. However this place is hugely understaffed and waiting for staff to check in for our booking or order drinks was a nightmare.

It was incredibly busy, and our table had been drowned with drinks from the previous customers. The menus were absolutely drenched and soggy - however the staff did everything they could to rectify this and clean it up when we arrived.

They did run out of steak for the mix grill and only informed us after we had paid, although I was able to swap out for a different dish even though it was more expensive.

Despite being severely understaffed the food arrived in reasonable time and was impressively delicious.

What I did find ridiculous was that customers cannot swap items out - since there was no steak, they would not let me swap it for extra gammon or any other item.

The bathrooms were disgusting and had no soap - though this is down to being understaffed and the higher management will seriously need to invest more into the staff budget for this place to do well.

UPDATE:- Our party of 7 returned today for a Sunday roast. Under the impression you could get more than one type of meat in the £2 upgrade, we ordered that. We only got the one meat on each roast which made everyone's orders wrong - we should have been informed that you can only have one meat per dish when we ordered. The mash, stuffing and peas were missing off all the dishes. Staff did rectify the missing peas, but told us they had no mash or stuffing - something we should have been told when we ordered! A couple of dishes had cold veg and the green beans were a bit underdone, although the turkey, roasties and Yorkshire puddings were some of the...

Don't waste your time or money! This place is the epitome of unappealing. Firstly - the car park was full of broken glass and rotten planters / flower beds which were bare of anything. Bits of wooden fence fallen down, litter everywhere and at least 4 separate patches of broken glass before you even make it to the front door. I wish we had left!

We got inside and there was no staff to be found around the bar area so we made our way to seating area where we were met with several dirty booths, food and menus over the floor and one member of staff who completely ignored us.

We found one of the few cleared tables and as expected the table was sticky and dirty.

We decided to order using the app as there was only one member of staff in sight who was wondering around the other part of the building.

15 minutes after ordering a very unfriendly, scruffy member of staff wearing massively stained white high tops and baggy jeans near enough around his ankles came with our drinks, both of which were watery and mostly ice.

50 MINUTES after ordering (two small breakfast items) our food finally arrived. Barely warm and the beans had clearly been sat as they'd formed a skin over them! The bacon looked like it had been microwaved and the black pudding was burnt solid.

DO NOT EVEN BOTHER. We were waiting all in around an hour from when we placed our order, there was only 2 other small groups of people in the venue and during the time we were there the booths and dirty floor/ menus were STILL...

Went as a party of 6. We approached the bar and after a little wait, a member of the bar staff appeared. We said we had booked a table and was told "your table is over there at the back" When asked if we could order drinks we were told "yes I will sort that out in a minute as I have to sort out the tv's first" (apparently there was a football match on). When we approached our table with a reserved sign on it, there was food all over the floor and the tables were sticky. We ended up ordering the drinks via the app, which did come quick quickly. I asked a member of staff if the table could be cleaned. A young girl came over and sprayed directly onto the table instead of the cloth, which resulted in spray going all over our drinks. The meals again were ordered via the app. They came after a little wait but most of the food was awful. Chicken dry. Steak tough. Sausages pale and mushy. Egg half missing and over cooked. Peas lukewarm. Baked beans lukewarm. Pizza microwaved and bottom rock hard. Scampi over cooked. Sweetcorn lukewarm. Chips ok. Gammon ok. Onion rings ok. I am a lover of the Hungry Horse chain and this was by far the worse experience I have witnessed. The place was full off "locals in there to watch the match" and it seemed thats all they were interested in. Also on another table, a member of staff whipped away a customers plate before she had even swallowed her last mouthfull. Have never felt so unwelcome. Couldn't wait to get out of there and will...

Terrible. To start with the table was filthy and the menu was sticky. I used a wet wipe to clean it and it was very dirty. The barman looked so miserable and barely spoke. The food was not good. The steak sizzler did not sizzle at all and the steak was burnt on the bottom and bloody on the top, tried to turn it over to cook the top half a little more but the sizzler plate was not hot enough (requested medium). It was also very fatty. The peppercorn sauce and cheese on the top had just been placed on top cold and there was not enough heat to melt/warm it. The onion rings were stodgy in the middle and not cooked properly and the chips looked like they had been cooked in dirty oil with little black bits all over them. The garlic bread was burnt. The coke was flat. Will not return. If it wasn't for the fact we had no food back at the caravan I wouldn't have eaten anything. See pic for how much fat in steak

Came for lunch on a Monday afternoon, found the staff to be exceptionally friendly especially Jodie who served us, food was average and kind of what you expect for this kind of place none the less still quite enjoyable and filled a hole. Good value also. Plenty of parking free round the back. We came with the dogs and they were more than welcome inside or out. We decided to sit outside and honestly this is where it felt let down really the outside certainly wasn't the cleanest with stuff all over the benches and rubbish everywhere. I'm not saying it put us off as inside did look clean especially the toilets which is always important but we wanted to be out. Otherwise it felt like the clientele inside was locals or regulars at that. Overall though the staff really were lovely and the food enjoyable enough so would use again if in the area.
