Ok, so I am a self-confessed food snob. I'm much happier in a Bob Bob Ricard than in a Chef & Brewer. But, every so often my ever so frugal hubby wants to trade in our Tesco vouchers for a meal deal. So I reluctantly visit Pizza Express's and Chef & Brewers within a 20 mile radius of our home. On this occasion we opted for the Red Lion and my goodness am I so glad we did. Within minutes of being seated our lovely waitress came over to take our drinks order. I had noticed that mine and my hubby's 'specials' menus were different, so wanted to clarify if they had the fillet steak offered on one of the menus. Our waitress quickly checked on her tablet and confirmed they had one fillet steak left, she kindly offered to get the kitchen to reserve it whilst we perused the rest of the menu, which was much appreciated. She returned shortly after with our wine and we ordered the fillet steak and a rib eye steak. The food arrived quickly and was both piping hot and surprisingly high quality and really tasty. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection and cut like butter. A lovely young waiter came to clear our plates soon after we finished and asked if we wished to see a dessert menu, which we happily accepted. Shortly after our delightful waitress returned to check we had been offered dessert also. I had the trio of desserts which were all incredible, my husband loved the chocolate brownie. Our service from start to finish was exceptional with each server taking time have a chat with us and make us laugh. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I'm still going to want to dine at Bob Bon Ricard now and then, but if I ever want a decent meal where I'm treated like a local, I'll definitely choose the...

My husband and I took our Mums to the Red Lion for lunch on Sun 15th Sept. The table was booked for 1pm.. we sat at our table..We ordered some drinks.... ( lovely lemonade glasses btw ) Another family group sat down and for some inconceivable reason, had their order taken before my husband had to remind the waitress we were still here ! Lol.. eventually we managed to order our starters......and waited.....and waited.....and waited. Although the prawn cocktails we ordered were very nice, the butter was hard and we couldn’t spread it on our bread ! 3 had ordered the roast beef and 1 the steak pie.......After what seemed an eternity, they arrived...... FOOD WAS COLD ....the roast beef so tough my Mum in law couldn’t eat it.... she blamed her false teeth ... lol.... the Yorkshire pud was like leather !!...... we waited for the plates to be cleared so we could order a dessert..... and waited....and waited.... and waited.....I think you get the picture......After our desserts, we asked to have tea in the garden... No problem..... except they had no NORMAL tea left.... only herbal.... Mum (89) and Mum in law (86) wanted a pot of good old tea .... surely they had a tea bag somewhere... but no.... had to settle for coffee....( which neither really drink) and then had to walk back inside to get some milk. Bill was not cheap ( just over £100.00)...... Come on manager... get your act together or at least sharpen your knives... so we can cut through the food.....and get some staff ,!!!!!!!!.. Wont...

I've deleted a previous good review to replace with this one. I attended as part of a party of approx 15 guests. The pub does not have a bill splitting system once a discount is applied to the bill so customers had to individually work out how much they needed to pay. I mistakenly overpaid and requested the difference back, I was told by a young man to go to the till to collect the difference in cash. The elderly lady at the till was very rude and said I'd need to wait until every other guest had paid before I could collect a refund. I explained I was x number of months pregnant and I'd just really wanted to leave at the point as we'd been there for a few hours now, I was again told that I needed to wait until every other of the 15 or so guests had paid. Fortunately one of the other guests stepped in to help me but if it weren't for her, the pub would have made me wait until the last guest had paid to give me a refund. This pub is local to me and previously a lovely place where we've gone a number of other times but I'm less likely to return now given how humiliated I was made to feel. Really saddened by this visit and I really hope that if this lady is ever on the paying side of the till, someone else does not treat her the way she made me feel....

A Delightful Dining Experience at The Red Lion Iver Our first visit to The Red Lion Iver left us thoroughly impressed with both the food and service provided. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The food, as promised, arrived piping hot, satisfying our expectations. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen staff. The flavors were rich and tantalizing, leaving us craving for more with each bite. Each dish surpassed our expectations. However, what truly elevated our experience was the impeccable service, particularly from Jan. Her warmth and attentiveness made us feel welcomed and valued throughout our meal. Jan's dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was evident, and her friendly demeanor added a personal touch to our dining experience. Overall, our first visit to The Red Lion Iver exceeded all expectations, thanks to the combination of delectable food and exceptional service. We left with satisfied appetites and the intention to return, eager to share this delightful experience with our friends and family. If you're seeking a memorable dining experience, Dog friendly look no further than The Red Lion Iver.

I had one of the most humiliating experiences I’ve ever had in a pub at The Red Lion in Slough (SL0), all thanks to the general manager, Jan. I was there with my 8-year-old son, who has diagnosed learning difficulties and special needs. He made a comment that wasn’t appropriate, and I immediately corrected him on the spot — as any responsible parent would. That should have been the end of it. Instead, Jan decided to march over, in front of other customers, and lecture me on how to raise my child. She even told me that “in this day and age” I could be banned because of something my son said — despite the fact I had already dealt with it. Her tone was rude, condescending, and completely out of line. There was no understanding, no discretion, and certainly no respect. I left feeling singled out, embarrassed, and bullied — not what you expect when visiting your local pub, especially from the manager. If this is how The Red Lion treats parents of children with additional needs, I suggest families think twice before spending their money here. I cannot fault the food the fault is actually pretty good, but the attitude from Jan The general manager has ruined everything

I visited The Red Lion after a long walk in Langley with my dog 🐕. This pub was recommended for its dog-friendly atmosphere and proximity to the park. The food is consistently high-quality. I’ve been here before and have never been disappointed—the temperature, taste, and portion sizes are always excellent!! Kudos to the chef and team. Despite the pub being busy, I chose to order at the bar due to missing breakfast. Both my dog and I were well taken care of—Hope enjoyed a bowl of water and milk, followed by some sausages, while I had a pint and a delicious toad in the hole. 🙃 Service was warm and welcoming, especially from the woman who served me... thank you 😊 My only suggestion for the Red Lion would be a slight update to the decor, which feels a bit cold and affects the atmosphere. This may be just by the bar where I was sitting... Something cosier might make it feel more like a traditional pub, though this may be personal preference and opinion. Thanks to the team at The Red Lion for making my visit to Langley so pleasant. I’ll definitely be back soon!!! .
