Wow what a lovely place to eat, so my wife Jules rang to book a table and explain that our daughter who had had covid didn’t eat meat at the moment so did they have any other choices and they couldn’t have been more helpful.
Great attitude but did recommend if we wanted one of the roasts we should pre book to avoid disappointment.
They even said if there is nothing on the menu our daughter doesn’t like the chef will do his best to create something.
We did book a couple of beef and a Turkey (that was the days choices) and was welcomed with a great smile and lovely ale (otter was lovely)
The food was great but the beef does come rare so if that’s too pink for you simply ask when you order and the will ensure it’s how you like it.
The food was lovely with veg al dente the roasts crunchie and meat lovely.
When it comes to desert they have daily specials and we have the bisoff cheese cake with ice cream but was again lovely.
This is overall a lovely pub and was very pleased with the service and quality of food and drink.
Very happy...
Read moreCame here at 6pm for dinner on a Tuesday with my partner. When we ordered there was no one else in the restaurant. 40 mins wait for food. Okay, not the end of the world. Food was average but reasonable for the price. Our plates were collected once we finished eating and we were not asked if we wanted dessert. We waited 15 mins and no one came so we got up and got our own menus from the bar. 10 mins later, still no one had come to take our order so we had to flag down a waitress and ask if we could have dessert. Didn’t take long for the desserts to come. The bread and butter pudding was hard and had clearly been microwaved. The waffle and ice cream was a shop bought waffle which you can get for £1 with a dollop of ice cream on. Oh and we had to flag waitress down for more drinks and no one ever came and asked if the food was okay. Overall, disappointing, mostly with the service. Will not be returning and would...
Read moreThis is to counter a review made earlier this month by 'P. O'Reilly'. It was a personal attack against the Landlord (not a 'barman') - who was named in it, and was untrue. The Red Lion, Dagnall is a family run pub (a young couple with two small children) who are doing all in their power to 'bounce back' after the restrictions and issues caused by C-19. During the pandemic they drove many miles delivering meals and drinks to local villages. Ed is a first rate chef/cook and the reasonably priced meals are always to a high standard - a recent fillet steak I enjoyed was among one of the best I've ever had - and produced from, where possible, locally sourced ingredients. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but to write an erroneous review following a disagreement between a Landlord and the writer is unacceptable. The Red Lion is a good pub with good food and...
