Wow what a find this place is! We were on our way back home to Cornwall from Dorset and decided to sneak another night in the camper van. We found this pub online and the offer of free camping if you eat in the pub was too good to resist. The camping field is just In front of the pub, nice level pitch with great shower facilities. We booked a table for dinner and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by a lovely guy behind the bar and was looked after from the very beginning. The menu looked amazing we had the chicken arracini and deep-fried squid for starters and it was delicious. For our main we had the 18 day aged lamb with moroccan couscous and it was out of this world! We treated ourselves to 2 deserts the sweet treats were delicious but the star of the show was the Tunisian orange cake. Wow! We will definitely return again to enjoy this fab place.

We're now on our third annual visit to Launceston and a meal at the Rising Sun Inn is always a feature for us. This place goes further than just good 'pub grub' and consistently knocks out fantastic, elevated dishes. Some standouts for us have been the onion bread in the bread to share (a must order), the steak and ale pie and the scotch egg. The tomato consomme on the burrata starter is outstanding and really brings this dish together - though burrata itself was a tad deflated this time, but absolutely delicious nonetheless. Peanut parfait rounded off a stunning meal perfectly. Will continue to come back whenever we're in the area, lovely staff, atmosphere and dog friendly!

First of all this delightful little inn is much nearer to Altarnun than Launceston but it is well worth the effort to visit. Classic Cornish public house with its front room bar. Varied and interesting menu with fresh salads, daily specials etc., not just the usual pub grub. Between the three of us we had oxtail soup and dumplings, fresh white crab avocado mango salad, blue cheese chicory walnuts salad with sherry dressing, plus some fresh bread and olives. Dog friendly, plenty of local beers to choose from. Check before going because staff shortages have caused some variation in opening times/ days. Highly recommended.

THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Absolutely amazing!!!!! The staff work VERY hard and that is very apparent with the food, atmosphere and how welcome me and my partner felt being here. The chefs can accommodate to dietary requirements on the fly as everything is made fresh. VEGANS AND ALIKE-DO NOT PASS THIS UP. As someone with dietary requirements, going out to eat is usually not as pleasant as you would like, and as a vegan, most places offer the same things but these dishes were completely unique and well thought out. I have never in my life had food as amazing as this.

As for camping, could not fault it at all. We feel welcome and have our own space and in a lovely and peaceful location. There is a separate shower and toilet block to the premises so you have access in the late hours. Field is flat enough, no major dips which is a luxury when camping/pitching up your motorhome.

DISABLED ACCESS- After breaking my ankle and wheeling myself round in a chair I thought I would touch on catering for wheelchair access. Doors are wide enough to wheel into, including the facilities, however, there are a few very small steps in a couple of doorways I had to hop down but nothing more major than a small lip. Staff were very accommodating to this.

Also for people who struggle with public places, there are many areas to dip into if you need to get away from groups of people, multiple outdoor seating areas.

You can really see how much work goes into this place. There is a lovely balance of gastro-pub/camping, amazing quality food without the high price point, and they really try to focus on sourcing their ingredients locally which is a very special thing to do. We didn't feel out of place, a very homey feeling and that is all you want when finding somewhere to...

Took my girlfriend away for her 30th and was recommended this pub/restaurant for an evening meal.

My partner is coeliac and it can sometimes be stressful finding somewhere which not only understands the allergen, but goes above and beyond to cater for it.

The rising sun was genuinely one of the best meals we both experienced. The barman was very knowledgeable and explained all the meals she could have - there was about 10% of the menu that she couldn't have! The rest was modified. So impressed.

When the food came out - only one word fits - Wow! What a talented kitchen team they have.

Partner had pork pie with a bahji coating instead of the breadcrumb - it was 10/10.

I had the arrancini which again was just unbelievable

For mains we had the sirloin steak and the beef burger - cooked to perfection, good portion size, great value for money.

We had a short chat with the barman who asked what we had been up to today. After explaining it was her 30th birthday, he brought over complimentary prosecco for us and when paying for the meal they had given us a birthday card for my partner from the owners and team.

Disbelief at the attention to detail from this establishment. I wish we lived closer as we would be visiting the rising sun alot!

Thank you to the whole team. Your business was the cherry on the top to my partners 30th...

A Fantastic Experience of Culinary Delights at very Affordable Prices.

Well, What a fantastic culinary evening we had! "Curry Night at The Rising Sun Inn Altarnun" It started when we arrived and were warmly greeted by Dylan, The Bar Manager. We were then led through to the Dining room and our drinks were brought through. The course started with Lamb Coftas Samosas and an absolutely delicious, Scotch Egg with an Onion Baggi Coating, all served with a mint Yogurt and Hot Chilli Jam. This was then followed by a Lamb jalfrazi, Butter Chicken and a Fish curry, Naan Breads & Poppadoms. Dessert was a home made Rice Pudding, Mango Sorbet and a Pineapple Pannacota. The prices at £35 a head was an absolute steal. "Tim", The owner and Head Chef, excelled in every dish. "Conrad", Front of House and General Manager attended to our every need. "Sebastian" our Waiter and "Bailey"on the Bar, made our evening, with their helpful ways and smiley faces and making sure we were never kept waiting. Overall, the ambience, quality of food, service and the price, left us with very satisfied minds and bellies. We will certainly be back, and highly recommend this quality establishment to one and all. Thank You to...
