Friendly local cafe providing typical British meals and cakes. Extra parking behind. It can be quite busy, but there's several tables for 4 and tables for 2 down one side, including a book swop along one wall. I saw at least one dog too.

Lovely place to stop for food, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I had the miners Benedict and it was perfect, some of the best poached eggs I have had to date. Highly recommend.

Arrived here today with the intention of getting food and going into the charity shop next door. However I have two children with me who are technically on day 7 of isolation with two negative lfts meaning they can technically come out of isolation however I didn't think it was fair or appropriate to take them inside somewhere they'd need to remove masks to eat.

With that in mind I asked for our food to eat in the car, literally 5 yards from the cafe door. I was told no we Don't do take out. I explained again we were merely sat in the car as it was sleeting outside. Nope. Can't have anything. Not even a coffee.

Fancy being a hospitality establishment able to literally turn custom away after all the closures! They could not have been ruder or more unhelpful!

Further insult to injury their door is heavy with metal sinage only on strings and against glass, it's windy out and pouring with rain and snow so I hurriedly shut the door for the folks sat wsting beside it. The chap followed me out to my car and tried to have a slanging match in front of my children!! I apparently slammed the door! I certainly didn't but I wasn't going to engage in a row with a strange man in front my children!

It might be prettier and more expensive since the take over but.lord has it lost the magic it once had under the Olive tree name!!we...

Called at this Cafe on Thursday 27th August, attracted by the outside seating because my Wife takes medication that compromises her immune system and we are avoiding any communal inside space.

The table and chairs were very wet, so I went inside to enquire politely about them being dried.

I was informed that “I have nothing to dry them with”.

I felt sure this was something of a joke and paused, waiting for the punchline, but it never came and it became clear that the lady was actually serious...

Really? No kitchen roll, towels, tea towels??? In a Cafe!!?

We left in complete disbelief and spent around £20 in an alternative Cafe down the road.

We won’t be going there again - they don’t deserve...

The cafe is lovely, in a great location for walkers. The decor and staff are very good. My only minor issue is the coffee beans used aren't to my taste.....although I continue to visit and partake. But that is hugely subjective.

Definitely worth a visit for the food too. The German breakfast is...
