This is just the second time we've come here. It's reminded me why it will only get three stars from me.
The area is picturesque views are beautiful in the very heart of the countryside and far away views of the sea. But I honestly think they are very overrated and NOT deserving of anything more than 3 stars at best. The drinks (we had hot chocolate) were luke warm weak tasting and very very average. Very limited menu. Literally only cream tea and a few paltry tray bakes, no chocolate cake and what tiny choices they have foodwise, is below average.
The scones were quite tiny. No flavour or noticeable home fruit in the jam. And also very average for an aga home baked offering. And that's ALL the food they offer at the moment. I even understand the paper plates fake cutlery and takeaway cups during covid. What I dont understand is the unfriendly indifferent shocking terrible customer service. No greeting. No smiles. Family stress on show, snapping at whom I presume is the little grandson telling him off... all he wanted to do was chat. Such a shame. If they dont want customers or cant handle running a tearoom, especially on such a below average limited menu, then why open at all?
Reading the reviews on here, one would expect charming hosts happy to serve their customers or the Ritz, but sadly dissapointing. I rang them to check they were open and if they do a full afternoon tea including sandwiches. - Which as it turns out they dont. But I wasnt told this, at all, before we arrived.
This should be rectified on the website as " No sandwiches no afternoon tea" - cream teas only. With a warning that the menu is strictly limited. (VERY FEW) tray bake type cakes only. (No chocolate cake should up on the blackboard by the way when its obvious they dont have it. (or sold out?)
They have a good covid safe regime set up but this means one must clear the table after ourselves. Wouldnt have minded if implemented with some grace and a smile. Perhaps there's a family crisis going on... Or caught the place on a bad day? Whatever is wrong it needs...
Read moreAn absolute gem of a place! What a stunning location and a great set up. A beautiful large garden with plenty of tables and seating. There are good toilet facilities in their car park and a good amount of parking. Plus it's dog friendly.
What can I say about the cream tea itself? The scones were delicious and fresh out the oven, so lovely, light and warm. They were served with jam (which was ok) and tubs of gorgeous Cornish clotted cream. You could have tea, coffee or hot chocolate. We decided on the latter to try and warm ourselves up as the wind was very cold that day, inspite of the stunning blue sky and bright sunshine.
At the end, we just popped all our throw away items into the receptacle near the garden gate. We shall definitely return next year, when we're...

Before coming to Cornwall we looked for the best places for a cream tea. Rosemergy stood out due to its complete uniqueness. You sit in the owners garden and pay for the tea in their dining room and what comes out of the kitchen thanks to their aga is probably the best Cream Tea you will ever have!!!!
The only word that sums it up is spectacular!! It's plain and simple and is done fantastically well.
The surroundings are amazing with the sea on one side the moor on the other and the silence of the place finished off what was a fantastic experience.
I urge you to search out Rosemergy Cream Teas you will not be...
