Staying very close to this pub and having read such positive reviews, we decided to give it a try for Sunday lunch. We are so pleased we did. Firstly the service... The staff were so attentive. We were sat in the garden with our dog, and the waitresses were so helpful. Not overly intrusive but seemed to be there just when we needed them. They were engaging, happy and professional. Next, the food... I cannot stress how the food quality of this establishment lives up to it's reputation. Everything was on point and so tasty. Veg cooked perfectly - and a wide selection on the big plate. When they say 'all the trimmings' they really mean it. Roast potatoes to die for. Lemon & Thyme chicken was amazingly succulent. The stuffing was generous and of such quality to be a main item on its own - not just an accompaniment. The gravy was ample and on another level. A side of the pigs in blankets and heavenly cauliflower cheese - please and thank you. Warning... The sides are meant for sharing. They are big portions! The selection of drinks to accompany our meal was vast. If you have space in your belly for a pudding (we had to force ourselves - honest) I can highly recommend the crumble. Just cooked to perfection - a common theme, I can't praise the head chef and cooking staff enough. My partner had ice cream - their selection to choose from is impressive. Need to try their sticky toffee pudding next as heard people in the garden bigging it up. Lastly, the pub itself... Weather was amazing, so we stayed in the beautiful garden. However, the inside is also dog friendly and seems very relaxing. Full of a mix of family size tables and intimate little places to sit. It has a very traditional decor - but not tired or dated like many others. We walked there as it is so close to where we're staying - but parking is ample. We'll be visiting again very soon. I keep reading positive reviews about their fish... So that's our next...

Found this great pub whilst looking for a nice coastal walk on a blustery sunday afternoon and couldn't have made a better choice! The three meats roast was not only top quality with succulent, flavoursome chicken, pork belly and rare roadt beef and a variety of freshly cooked tasty veg (great gravy : not too thick, not too thin, and not at all salty 🤗) but the portion size was super generous too ... only wish we could have managed a pud but we were just too full.

Managed by a very friendly couple who know the true meaning of good customer service as our request to switch tables mid-meal (due to an overly loud & opinionated other diner) was met with complete understanding and fuss-free move. Decor with lino-prints from local artists and other artisan products available to purchase together with community events show this is a well run hub of a pub which supports local enterprise in the most beautiful surroundings ... perfect...

We called at the last minute as we were trying to find somewhere for a late lunch. The man on the phone was very helpful (they were still serving for another half hour), said that was fine if we were 15 minutes away and made sure there was a highchair for our baby.

When we got there we were shown to our table by the same lovely man we spoke to on the phone and were served delicious food by the attentive and friendly waitress.

When dining out with a baby there's always a worry that other diners will get annoyed but all the locals who walked past our table were very polite and friendly.

Although visiting an unknown country pub can be a gamble in terms of quality, our visit couldn't have gone better. The food was not only f**king divine (compliments to the kitchen staff) but very reasonably priced and the service was top class. I couldn't honestly recommend this place...

If the sailor returns, he should do it in winter. Took family & friends (9) for an August birthday lunch. Friendly waitress found us a cosy table in one of the Sailor's quirky nooks & crannies. The bold menu was missing a few key dishes. That, along with the fairly bog standard kid's menu, wouldn't encourage me to return with unadventurous eaters. But my tasty pork burger was well cooked, and the heavily spiced linguine suited my taste. Sadly, the entire meal was made uncomfortable by a swarm of flies. I'm sure the owners are exasperated too, but I won't come back in summer months.

Me and the Mrs wanted somewhere to have dinner after visiting Durdle Door. Wow. I can’t begin to describe how amazing this place is. The staff are all so polite and friendly, I’m shocked that they don’t even add service charge. For food, we ordered the crab pot and chicken croquettes for starters, chicken with sage and potato pie for mains and a marmalade bread and butter pudding for dessert. The whole lot was incredible, I’d give the food 10 stars if it were possible. You absolutely need to go to this place if you are in the area.
