I am very disappointed with this place given the reviews. They were very keen on us paying upfront while booking on the phone for the bike hire but not much else. I usually don’t like to leave bad reviews but this was off the scale. My 5 year old daughter was given a 24inch bike to start with even though I had mentioned all our heights over the phone and what bikes we were usually riding. They swapped it for a 20inch bike which was still too way too big for her especially for going off road. They said it was their smallest size but of course failed to mention it on the phone, just one more sale right… When I booked over the phone I was told “yeah we should be able to accommodate” which I challenged for them to reply “yes we will have the right size bikes”. When we got there they weren’t very helpful and put the blame on me for “not mentioning my daughter ride ability or giving the correct height”. My daughter has been riding a bike without stabilisers since she was 3. Once they take the money they don’t offer any refund even if the bike does not fit. They did offer to use a tag along or a trailer after much complaining though. My daughter really wanted to ride so she did try the bigger bike but got frustrated very quickly. We did give up and they did swap for a cheaper trailer (still with no refund). The trailer got installed so badly the first time that the whole rear wheel came off…Thankfully I had just given it a trial run as my daughter wasn’t convinced. After fixing the trailer we finally had a nice time. When we returned we were so disappointed with the service earlier we decided we would not spend a penny more in that place. Read moreI’m not one to complain, but our experience today was really disappointing. As locals, we were excited to support this bike hire company/cafe but unfortunately, the service was lacking. First, when we asked where our missing meal was, we were told it was "on its way," but they were "busy," despite only a few tables being occupied. The manager also got our order wrong, leaving one of us hungry. When we raised the issue, we were told we’d have to reorder and wait again as they had not actually put it through , which left us with no time to reorder before heading out on the trail.
To top it off, when we raised our concerns, we were offered a coffee or a piece of cake, which felt completely inadequate for the time wasted and poor service, the manager was very reluctant to offer this.
We were reluctant to hire a bike for £15 for just over an hour, which felt overpriced. When we returned the bike, the staff member had to inspect it but didn’t seem to know what they were looking for, wasting more of our time. The staff member who provided the bike also had no real knowledge about it, making the whole process feel unprofessional.
Simply put, it was their mistake, and if they had just rectified it by providing the missing meal and offering a genuine apology, we wouldn't have needed to leave such a bad review. In case you are wondering, no the bike did not have wings, an engine or anything else that would have justified the cost, it was just a push bike. He could have had a whole day at a theme park or many other attractions for half the cost of this. He was only hiring today as his bike had a puncture and he was meeting friends.
