We arrived early to be sure of getting a table, as on this occasion we had not booked in advance. There are also a couple of tables available outside at the front. As always, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The menu is extensive and the quality of food is always exceptional. Scones (large selection of flavours) are baked freshly on the premises every day. There is a very good selection of delicious homemade cakes too.....particularly the lemon drizzle cake (which I only discovered today is the recipe of Si King aka Hairy Biker). The homemade sausage roll is also another delight. Their afternoon tea is excellent value and during Covid we had many takeaway afternoon teas, to help support the business through this difficult time. They also offer a takeaway service.

Needed a cuppa and a slice of cake, so I popped in to Sally's. The young girl had a whole info of information, I had to move as the table was reserved, which was ok as there was plenty of tables free. I asked what cakes they have and she said loads and then took in a huge breath and started to reel them out haha. I stopped her after about half a dozen I was impressed with her memory and the amount of cakes on offer. I chose Lemon Drizzle cake which was very moist, soft and full of lemon flavour and quite a generous portion, lots of places give you small slices, I had a nice china cup and side plate then I had a blue teapot and mint green milk jug I don’t know what happened there lol. All in all a nice little spot for a cuppa and cake.

A received an afternoon tea voucher of my old work colleagues and wow what a gift they gave. The afternoon tea was amazing, everything was homemade and fresh. The scones were fantastic! Sandwiches amazing. Cakes to die for. There was so much food we had to take some away, there was no way we were finishing it there! The staff were all lovely and you could see how popular it was as the room was filled! I would recommend highly, i will be for sure going back and will attempt to finish it all! Definitely a fabulous gift for someone! 10/10 !

I called in at Sally’s cafe on Saturday 22nd December at about 10am. I have used the cafe before and had a great experience . However this time I am sorry to say was very disappointing . I asked for two poached eggs on toast, Which was declined I then asked for scrambled eggs on toast which was also declined. I was then for some reason unknown informed that there is a hairdressers upstairs . I’m totally confused as to the relevance of the hairdressers as I am follically challenged. I was then told that I could have a sausage or bacon sandwich which I declined . ( if cooking smells were the issue in question regarding the hairdresser being upstairs bacon and sausage cause more odour than a poached egg) I was then informed that I could have a full English at the cafe on the Carlisle road!!!!!!!! I don’t eat bacon , sausage or full English breakfasts and never mentioned them myself. In summary I was made to feel extremely unwelcome by the two staff on duty at that and decided to leave . Yours in...
