Went for lunch here as a Colleague had recommended it. Walked in to a very cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. Real log fire was in the process of being lit and a nice comfy sofa next it. We were told we could sit where we like so chose a nice spot in the main dining area. I ordered the monster mixed grill 48oz of meat plus potatoes of my choosing and veg/salad. My wife chose ham, egg and chips. Food was delivered in good time and service was polite and on point. My wife really enjoyed her meal and the portion was just right for her as she sometimes struggles to finish a meal. Now for mine. Well...I couldn't finish it, it is a monster mixed grill indeed. Sausages were lovely flavour and truly meaty. unfortunately I wasn't asked how I like my steak and it came well done whilst I normally have it blue rare. The liver was slightly over done for my liking but the rest of it was well prepared. The chips are on another level crisp, fluffy and beatuifully cooked. We both had some ice cream for dessert (ice cream has a dessert stomach), and was divine. All the food was reasonably priced for what we had i would go back (although maybe just a normal mixed...

Average food - the Rib starter was tough, no meat was falling off those bones! Beef burger dry. Curry portion so huge there wasn't an easy was of eating it with the way it was served. HUGE portions. Definitely think the pub could do with reducing its portion sizes and spending some money on the interior. I could smell the rotting fish tank we were sitting next to. Service terrible. We had to ask to place our food orders. The pub itself felt like we were stepping back in time. The conservatory, with its NHS blue blinds, was boiling hot and we were initially told the doors were locked. When the heat got too much we did ask for the doors to be opened and one of the waitresses did do it (with attitude) in the end. We ordered 3 lots of ice cream for pudding and they tried taking one of them to another table. We had the same drink order taken 3 times as the waitress didn't understand what a Kopperberg Cider was.

Edit: Apologies for the comment on the new waitress. I wish her success in her career. We were all new to a job once! Fish tank didn't smell of fish, just...

Unfortunately we had an awful experience with food here. Which I believe is such a shame as I have heard previous great reviews from friends. Our food and another table near to us had a couple of plates that found a large solid piece of plastic in the food. We had a Sunday roast which we think may have been reheated, but understanding how difficult it can be to serve a great roast at this time of year, it was almost expected. Other tables we did over hear great reviews whilst they were eating. This pub has a really good range of drinks, so many tables inside and outside, a good sized park for younger children, although worn, it is still a great space and tables have been placed within the park area. The staff were all very lovely and accomodating. Plus they had an on site camping/ caravan park! I'm not sold on their Sunday lunch even plastic aside, but I would like to go back to try their main menu as other people's dishes...

Tortilla chips were mediocre and served in a unique way with the salsa and sour cream hidden underneath the tortillas and cheese and scorched ...odd but ok. The Buggers were a big disappointment when Paying £11 for a burger with onions relish chips and side salad we really didn't expect a burger with limp wet tasteless onions. It was like something you'd expect out of a festival chip van really not pub restaurant standard tbh had better burgers from roadside chip vans. When we have been before we have had much better experiences and have always sat outside but today with the weather being indifferent the only choice was to sit in the conservatory. Which is a mismatch of décor and certainly needs some love an attention with mismatched tables and very tired looking chairs it's so sad to see a once popular and lovely pub crumbling away I imagine in the low lighting of an evening one wouldn't notice.

We visited for the first time, 30th Apr 24. As it was a tue it was very quite, only a couple of tables (this was the afternoon too) so can't comment on atmosphere much, but loads of seating inside and out. Nice play area for kids, and lovely surrounding walks. Service was prompt and professional. Food was delicious. Little pricy (only over by a few pounds,) £10.50 jacket potato. Similar price for baguette. For lunch, reasonable prices for dinner My friend had the ploughman's, my only moan about it would be, we didn't like the fact you choose ham or cheese, I personally think it should come with both. All the food was excellent size, quality and taste was beautiful. We will definitely return again.
