One of the most picturesque spots on the south coast of Dorset. Easily accessible by foot or car (with plenty of parking) this is a must visit for anyone visiting Dorset. The castle sits high up with amazing views of Swanage, Durlston, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight. You can even see Dolphins at time pass by! There are plenty of food and drink options to chose from, with seating inside and outside the cafe. We highly recommend the cream tea, priced at just ÂŁ6.50 (including a pot of tea), the fish and chips, panini and crab options. All staff are friendly and after ordering at the cafe, your food is brought to your table without much wait. The food is always delicious and you can easily spend hours enjoying the views, sunshine and atmosphere. Blankets are even provided by the cafe if you get too chilly. The cafe is wheelchair friendly and accessible for all. It is one of our favourite spots to visit and we return every time we are in the area. Prices are also very affordable.

Whenever I'm in Swanage I always have a walk up here to soak up the views, and I regularly pop in to here for a cup of tea and a rest.. but I also enjoy their food. On a sunny day it's great to sit outside and enjoy the view, but it's also nice to sit indoors; I forgot to take pic of indoors, but it is very neutral and calming, although it can fill up quite fast. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, even at their busiest.. and prices aren't too bad. They have gluten free fish n chips which is also a big bonus.. and the burger is a winner. I also enjoy their sausage in a bun with a cuppa, when you make your way up there for breakfast, I think it could do with an extra sausage, but still tastes good in the breosh bun.

Nice cafe with some interesting food options. Awesome view out to see and you can eat indoors or on the outside deck. Or you could take your food up to the observatory! We had the vegan bao buns which were delicious although not left room for cake, and the veggie burger chips and coleslaw which was good too and a big portion

We visited Durlston Country Park today to enjoy a nice walk and enjoy the views. We decided to have a coffee before we set off walking, but sadly our experience in the cafe completely ruined the day. Ordered two hot drinks and cake, but then made the fatal mistake of having them in takeaway cups thinking it would be easier and safer due to the cafe packed with children. Once sat down with our drinks and cake a very rude member of staff came over to inform us that we shouldn’t be sat in the cafe area because we had chosen to have our order in a takeaway cup. She told us we would have to move if other customers wanted to use the table and there was nowhere else to put them! Well of course half way through our order, which wasn’t any less price wise for a takeaway, she came over and told us we needed to move.

My husband told her we would have a proper cup instead to put our drinks into at which point she told us we couldn’t and had to move. When I asked why we needed to move when we were paying customers who had paid the same as everyone else she told me it was “policy”. I checked the website and found that the picnic tables she was telling us to move to are for customers who bring their own food and drink. When I pointed this out and asked where the sign was that made clear we had to move, she told me there wasn’t one but that they are busy. To make matters worse this lady was the manager!

While the place is lovely, the very rude woman who made a complete show of us in front of all the other customers, completely let it down. Even the couple at the table next to us were completely shocked by her behaviour. We will never ever return to cafe again and it has put us off of visiting at all in the future to be honest. A complaint, for which I hope they have a genuine policy, will be...

Food and drink gem in Swanage.

With the best views, undoubtedly, and the most varied and value for money menu in the town I have nothing but praise for seventh wave. Ok, it’s a cafe in style, you order at the bar and collect your own tap water from a plastic jug. But, it’s everything you need.

The selection of lunch specials always includes dietary variety and something with real care for flavour which makes this a better time to visit than breakfast, which is admittedly very basic fare (investing in some high quality local sausages would seriously elevate the offering).

Speaking of local, yes, there’s booze. Reasonable wines and an amusingly confusing draft combination: Dorset Gold (an ale) and Purbeck Gold (a cider). Ask for a pint of ‘gold’ to experience the lucky dip.

Cake and a pint makes a great end to a walk up at the park, and these are good cakes. Not the dried up over-iced slabs of cafes-gone-by. Often there are too many to choose from, even if you’re gluten free, or vegan.

Predictably busy on gorgeous walking days during the lunchtime rush but there’s usually room. Outside has much less of a canteen feel, so...
