What a shame!!! This was a return visit after the owner kindly sorted out a previous poor dining experience. He kindly offered an acceptable explanation in an email, and offered a replacement meal if we chose to revisit. We visited again this evening, but did not make any staff aware of the circumstances until it was time to pay, as we wanted a true experience. We ordered drinks and asked for a table for two. No one came to take the order so we ordered at the bar. We watched other tables receive condiments and cutlery, and after 45 minutes our meals arrived. The waitress put them down, and then muttered " l will get some cutlery" She came back after about 3 minutes, put the cutlery down and turned to walk away. I politely asked for condiments, which took another couple of minutes to arrive. As she again solemnly turned away l asked if l could have some tartare sauce, and my friend asked for the beetroot which was advertised on the board with the pie. Another couple of minutes of the food losing temperature, and an even more sullen return. The meal was lovely, and we were asked if everything was ok by other staff members. As the landlady cleared our plates we said we would like a sweet. She said l will be right back. After about 10mins she said- l haven't forgotten you, be with you shortly. Another ten minutes passed and we decided to leave. We went to the bar to pay, and told the young lady we had been offered a free pie meal for a previous unsatisfactory one. She checked and charged us for one meal, and did ask if everything was ok. We said the meal was lovely, but we would have liked a dessert, but no one came to take our order. She asked if she could get us one but we explained we needed to be somewhere by 9 o clock. So.....lovely pub, lovely atmosphere, good food but the customer service is non existent in some of the staff. We had put a live entertainment night in our diaries for a future visit, but it's unlikely we will return. The resident campers/caravaners seemed to get a priority and friendlier service. We are your winter month bread and butter!!!!! Customer service should be consistent and...

Stayed here in Feb 22. Fabulous cosy little site. Only about 5 hard standing pitches with hook up, but lots of grass spaces without. Great views from the site over open fields. Have Alpacas (so cute) and chickens too and a lot of the field is used for the kids to play. Country pub style site with a real fireplace, that sells delicious food and Ash and his staff are super friendly and helpful. Just make sure you remember to book your table as the restaurant can get busy. Brand new shower/toilet block with hot shower, toilet and sink in a heated vanity unit - with 3 units in total. Also a double pot wash sink, elson point , Grays waste disposal and water point. Would definitely recommend this site. A little thing to mention is there is some slight road noise which may disturb some people (especially when Oulton Park race track is being used). And the nearest shop is a couple of miles away on a busy road. But that certainly won't be stopping us from booking again in the future. For us the site is perfect, we...

What can I say . Other than what a lovely little country pub great beer & very nice food but booking is recommended as this place is a gold mine of a find . Only opens a few days a week too. We enjoyed our meal of "Bury Black Pudding In Beer Batter Sat On A Salad Garnish, Topped With An Egg" Sound strang or at very least different but my word it works well. One slight niggle my egg wasn't very runny but otherwise wow what a combination crispy batter light not dripping in grease beautiful large slice of Bury black pudding "the best in the world" IMHO Followed by " Traditional Lancashire Rag Pudding With Chips, Peas & Gravy " For me & pie of the day " steak , stout & stilton" with new potatoes for wifey. There I a choice of pub classics scampi and chips fish and chips & burgers ect a children's menu & even hotdogs for your pet dog too Lovely traditional pub large garden idea for those rare sunny days Great friendly service We will be going...

The pub is extremely dog friendly with all dogs on leads and controlled by their owners, however whilst taking my dog outside for a quick walk around the garden area, the “pub dog” a Husky was outside off lead with no collar, and within a split second attacked my dog, piercing his skin in two places around the neck. Which ever member of staff the Husky “pub dog” belongs to, please try and be as responsible as your customers. Even more astonishing was to find out after the attack from some regular customers was it’s not the first time this has happened! “Pub Dog” photo enclosed for people to be aware of. The big puncture wound still healing, hopefully all will be good. Veterinary bill currently £506 but we are insured thankfully, and their care has been fantastic, unlike the Shrewsbury Arms careless attitude.
