After all the rave reviews, the gf and I have been looking forward to going to Slice for over 12 months. Service and Atmosphere spot on, cool vibe with really friendly staff. The food however really lets the place down for Sunday Brunch. Mine was drowned in syrup, the gf's salmon didn't taste fresh. If you order Loaded Chicken, ask for the syrup in a separate pot as it was just overdone and ruined the food. What should be crispy cheesy chicken arrived soggy with clashing flavours. The small piece of chicken and bacon in the middle that didn't have syrup on tasted nice. Less is more. We left most on our plates, paid in full and left to get food elsewhere. Such a shame as the staff deserve better.
Response from the Owner... "Did you know sausage; if, when you're dining out and you feel something isn't quite right, you can say? As you testify, our staff are fantastic and could have easily sorted this out for you. Hell, you could even have got some money off / free drinks / a back rub. But alas, then you wouldn't have been able to leave this review. No winners this time, but we still love you."
Response... I would have left this review either way. I also don't believe in not paying/taking money off as it was our choice from the menu, we just didn't like it. There were lots of people sat around us so we decided not to make a fuss, pay and simply go elsewhere. I left a review so you could consider serving the syrup separate and explained why I personally didn't like it. To then reply with condescending tone "sausage, back rubs, wouldn't have been able to leave the review" after serving syrup covered chicken and dry salmon says it all. If you feel you're above feedback then good...
Read moreWe visited Slice for the first time with high expectations. Opting to sit outside, we enjoyed the sun on our faces and a pleasant breeze, as the indoor seating was too loud and crowded for our liking. We were there simply for tea and cake, so my partner and I ordered the vegan dark cocoa brownie, the banana cake, a cappuccino, and a gingerbread latte for her.
To our surprise, the brownie and banana cake were much larger than expected! The brownie resembled a dense chocolate brick, while the banana cake was more like a small loaf of bread—substantial portions for their price.
However, a few bites of the brownie left me guzzling water as though my life depended on it. It was overwhelmingly sweet, sickeningly so, and incredibly dehydrating. I consider myself someone with a sweet tooth, but this was too much to handle. It felt as though the chefs hadn’t even tasted it themselves. Honestly, anyone who eats it might need a dentist on standby.
I ended up sending the brownie back and ordered the banana cake instead, just like my partner. Unfortunately, it was no better—dry and reminiscent of chewing on compacted brown sugar. As my partner aptly put it: “very dry!”
I can’t comment on the waffles or other menu items, which may well be delicious. But based on our experience, the food is very pricey and overwhelmingly intense. If you’re seeking a bold, sugar-laden adventure (and possibly a heart attack), this might be the...

BOOK A TABLE AND MAKE THE TRIP!!!
Firstly, when you arrive there is plenty of parking at the venue, you will never be stuck for a parking space.
Secondly, upon entering the restaurant the staff are immediately attentive and welcoming even when the place couldn’t be more busy (without an empty seat)!
Thirdly, the menu has plenty of options, however I and everyone else already knew I was getting the overloaded chicken and waffles (highly recommend btw), and there is a long array of beverage options.
Fourthly, the coffee was lovely, the staff are very professional and the service was incredibly quick and attentive. Upon ordering our drinks had arrived in no longer than 5 minuets (to reiterate the place was packed!) and the quality of the brûlée coffee was awesome (AND FOR ONLY £4.20!).
Lastly, the food was amazing, great portion sizes, reasonable prices and juicy tender, fresh fried chicken over soft warm waffles with bacon, sausage and syrup was as good as it could get.
Value for money this place is amazing, hits all of the right notes, atmosphere was also great and I genuinely don’t have a bad word to say.
Left happy, full (satisfied), and didn’t feel like I had been shafted on the price! Great place 100% coming back soon!!!!
Thank you A Slice...
