We was staying at a caravan site near by and came for some food as a family and was extremely impressed with the amazing food and perfect service. We were made aware that they were busy and was prepared to wait a bit but the service was still amazing! All Food brought out within 20 minutes and that was a group of 15 of us! We even came back the following day for my Nan’s 60th as a group Of 33 and received amazing service and food once again. They gave us menus before we came so that we could pre order and they could be prepared which I thought was so thoughtful All meals brought out within 20 minutes of us arriving and was absolutely delicious! Over all we had an amazing experience here and would definitely recommend as the staff were lovely and so accommodating. Also, as I said,...

Contrary to other reviews we had a very poor experience here today. Ordered 2 coffees & 2 bowls of soup. The coffee arrived promptly & was very nice. 15 mins after placing the order - it wasn’t busy - we had to ask where our food was. The staff member concerned went to find out but left my partner standing at the bar with no word for several minutes. It arrived a short while after with bread from a packaged sliced loaf - not exactly the home made vibe described!!. After 2 mouthfuls of soup I found a lump of still frozen butternut squash in my soup. My partner had pea & ham soup & noted some ‘cool areas’ in the soup. The soup had clearly been inappropriately microwaved from frozen - shocking!! We complained, got a refund & left - won’t...

Came across this lovely place by chance & decided to have a meal. I had the gammon with egg & chips & my husband had the homemade Hadrian's pie (chicken, pork & beef filling) with homemade gravy & chips. It was absolutely beautiful. He couldn't stop raving about it. We spoke to the chef & complimented the chef on her fresh homemade cuisine. What a gem of a place. BUT please be aware of the parking situation. DO NOT enter the carpark nextdoor as this is designated land for caravans/tourers etc that has to be pre-agreed. And you will be fined if you enter...

After spending far too long ringing around everywhere that either wasn't open, not serving food that day or not serving u til later on in the evening, we happened upon this spot. Serving food from 3pm onwards (potentially earlier but that's when we got there)... The food was absolutely delicious!! Prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was lovely. It's historically themed with the surrounding Roman history. It was a perfect meal, a really wonderful experience and we will most definitely return! Highly recommend! Also it's dog friendly đŸ¶đŸ˜

What a wonderful experience. Having just finished walking Hadrian’s Wall we were looking to replace some calories and we couldn’t have found a better spot. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced, and the presentation was excellent. The ambiance was great and the staff were helpful. We asked about taxis back to Carlisle and the restaurant offers a shuttle for a reasonable fee. If I find myself back in Bowness-on-Solway, I’ll be paying another visit to the Solway Lounge & Garrison Bistro. Visit Date: June 3, 2021

Called in en route to Carlisle on my bike for a lunch time bite to eat. This is a hidden gem of a place on the Solway coast. Ideal stopping point for cyclists on the Route 72 (Hadrian's Route) Also weary walkers at the end of their route. Friendly staff, good, reasonably priced food and beer! It has been re-developed and is now fully opened since the last time I called (June 2020). Friendly staff and very accommodating. Will call again with my family for a meal. Thanks.
