Spital Inn & Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Well what can I say. Food was OK nothing sparkling... The service though was something else. Drink order was taken by a young girl who I think was just nervous if not she could do with being taught how to deal with customers. We ate our food and then our plates were left stacked in front of me by another waitress whilst she went to the fetch the dessert menu. When she returned to take our dessert order she stood at our table chewing some meat as she was starving !! Very unprofessional. My husband and I finished our bought in desserts before our sons desserts arrived. And to top it all we watched the young waitress strip the table next to us. She took all the unused cutlery from the previous family and put it onto the chair seat whilst she changed the cloths and then put it back on the table. Very rough around...

This was our second visit here, having given a 5 star review last time. But this time, we were not very impressed. Previously we had eaten a la carte but this was Sunday so it was a carvery only. We were pretty early (not sure on arrival time but we were out by 6) so it wasn't like the food had sat for hours. The beef was so dry it was like eating cardboard, and the veg looked like it had been cooked three hours earlier. The staff were pretty disinterested as well. The plus points were that the Yorkshire puds were good as we're roast spuds and parsnips, we were able to eat pretty much immediately and the drinks came fast.

Edited to say: this will not stop us coming by here again when we are next in the area, given the superb food from the menu on our previous visit, I suspect this...

Really nice & friendly the staff have time for you. 1st night on the site l got a steak done to perfection only challange was the peppercorn sauce was a tad over powering. I also popped in on Sunday but l didnt have the carvery only wanted a light snack, well they said they were fully booked but the staff did everything they could to fit me in. In the end l ordered a beef butty served with chips, gravy & side salad spot on with l had get the carvery ( will do next time). Really nice place to eat a big thumbs up to...
