My partner and I have just returned home for what had promised to be a romantic date night dinner at the St Vincent Arms, the reality however did not live up to my expectations (the dinner not the company). While deciding on where to spend our precious time (and his money) we were pleased to discover the many glowing reports both from previous diners and from reviews on Google. The waiting staff are excellent and the host pleasant and welcoming and remained so as we made our apologies leaving our meals barley eaten, graciously we went charged for what little we did eat. In relation to the food served, the chips were of the type freashly defrosted and like the vegetables precooked. The fish dish had been partly burnt to the plate, a consequence of the way it was cooked we were informed. I can only imagine that the regular chef had the evening off, lets hope he chose better than us for his date night. All in all despite the best of intentions and the attentive staff we drove home hungry to feast on poached egg on toast, who needs a romantic setting for a date night anyway. P.S I think that the menu is slightly overprice for what is in...

Fantastic service but food disappointing, really hoped this would be good as it comes highly recommend. I cannot fault service, the ladies were lovely but the food was just well below expectations. Brilliant options nearby are The Pipe and Glass - South Dalton, or the Star at Sancton - these are much better options. To give detail on why food quality was only two stars - the pie pastry crust was overworked and glutenous, same for the desserts. Pie filling was nice. My husband had the curried haddock but the haddock was massively overcooked and tough, with the curry sauce tasting similar to chip shop curry which wasn't acceptable at £18.50. I really wanted to love this place but just felt it was poor value. Would happily go back for a beer as the service was great but not for the food. Such a shame. Cannot recommend for...

I have moved to Sutton in the last 8 months and have had nothing but fabulous experinces at the Vincent. This is one place I've seen in the last ten years that can show you how to keep a pub and reastaraunt open .

Food 5 Star, drinks as you like 5 -Star, the staff 5 star and taken into the family run business as one of thier own. The best of good old fashion service and the modern way of treating people as friends youve not met yet. The Friday night "old Guys" ( ps I,m one of them now) took me and Lucy under their wing and made us so so welcome, the business serves up every thing you would want from a place you can soon call youre second home.

First class guys , thank you for the service and attention. Laurence & Lucy see you...

Absolutely wonderful visit to celebrate a birthday. Incredibly delicious, high-quality, homemade food served in a cosy, traditional, country pub. Some of the best we've tasted! Staff were incredibly friendly, professional and attentive - they made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much for them! Holly looked after us incredibly well - a real asset! The exceptionally talented chef even made a fresh batch of homemade apple sauce to complement the tasty pork loin! The chicken, pork and apricot terrine and homemade piccalilli was a delight. The steaks cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend.

The st Vincent Arms is a traditional village pub with several rooms. It has a wide range of beers, lager and cider, including five hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales. The pub has a very good reputation for the real ales, and it has featured in the camra good beer guide for over forty years. The cask ale was, as always, in excellent condition when I called in. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There are no bar games. The pub is mainly a food pub, the meals are good and the pub gets very busy. The bar is dog friendly, and there is outside seating. Highly recommended. Check opening times.

More fine dining menu than pub grub which isn't really mine or my husbands taste. We did find two things on the menu we liked and they were really tasty with massive portions. The setting is very old worldly with a cosy atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Prices are a lot dearer than we usually pay in country pubs but we did eat everything on our plates.Well worth a visit if your looking for a different menu from your typical pub grub!!
