A pub I’d happily be snowed in but it was July! The feeling of being welcomed really hit us as we entered not just because of the ambiance but also the personal touch of the staff. As we’d driven for two and more hours this stop off was much appreciated and to be truthful we weren’t expecting anything exceptional. But how wrong your perception can be! Excellent food although we all chose fish & chips it was done well the haddock was delightful. Would come back but as on the way to a wedding in Bainbridge can’t see a reason other than a good day out to revisit.

Nice place really old coaching inn. Room we stayed in was a family room a double bed and single. It was clean and bed was really comfy especially the pillows. Nice breakfast. Fantastic view out of our bedroom window. Big car park. Next to a static caravan site. So in summer advices to book a table could get busy. Only complaint needs a lot bigger TV in the bedroom. I know you don’t go to watch TV but if you go to bed or have children it’s something nice in your room to watch. Bathroom big could fit a nice bath in it with a shower. Good tea tray plenty on it.

Just finished the best beer battered haddock I've ever eaten. The rest of the food was pretty amazing too. I can recommend the lamb cutlets and mash. Helpings were generous and high quality. This is a lovely, friendly and welcoming pub and we're very glad it was recommended to us. My photo says it all. Yummy. Oh and it's right next to the lovely Street Head camp site! Edit: the chocolate brownie dessert was delicious as well!

We booked a table for two one evening and we arrived at least ten minutes early. S Nobody was around to greet or show us to our table we had to stand at bar area for some time before we were attended to. After being seated and given a menu it was over 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order when at that point they waitress told us our choices were no longer available. Another choice made and 30 minutes later our food arrived. Basic to say the least...I'm certain no chef would have put out these meals. For instance burger was in a dry roll of a sort but not warm so hot burger placed in cold roll. Onion rings (3) perched on top. Plate filled up with limp salad. Chips were inedible as far too dry and not very hot. Disappointing as we ate here last year and food good. Service needs upgraded. Chef on that night had more than an off day. We were asked at the point of paying the bill if everything was okay to which we explained why not and the bar person discounted bill accordingly which wasn't the reason for complaining but appreciated. ...

Staying in the village we went to Street Head Inn at 5:30pm and could see 90% of the tables empty, we asked for a table for four and was told none available until 8:30om at the earliest as they're all reserved, so we went to the next village and had a great meal, we returned to Street Head iInn at around 6:45pm for drinks (so I didn't have to drive) and still 60% of the tables empty! They didn't fill until 7-7:30pm so either the staff couldn't be arsed to tell us they had tables available up until 7-7:30pm, they just could cope, or they just didn't want the buisnss. Either way we were...
