Arriving at the restaurant we had a lengthy wait to be seated and were mainly ignored even though plenty of empty tables ( as was everyone who followed on from us ). Orders were taken politely enough once seated. We ordered two lots of fish and chips and one fishcake and chips along with two teas. The tea arrived in a pot which was far too small and the tea mainly ended up on the table as it was too full to pour. We were given tiny espresso cups with no proper handle to drink the teas , when we asked for sensible tea cups were told they had run out and pretty much had to demand coffee cups instead. The hosting during the meal was average and we had to ask for sauces and things which we would consider obvious in a fish and chip restaurant. The fish were both nice and tasty and well cooked as were the chips , the fishcakes however were pretty average. Would we return again ? probably not. It was a high priced meal that sadly did not deliver.

Level access suitable for manual and electric wheelchairs (I brought one of each!). Having entered my car reg on the tablet at the Please Wait Here sign, we were met with a friendly smile attached to a very courteous and welcoming member of staff. They carefully considered the needs of both wheelchair users and offered a choice of appropriate tables. The haddock, scampi, and (vegetarian) panini arrived quicker than expected, and all three were prepared perfectly. While eating, I had a look around to count the number of signs that reminded customers to enter their car registrations to qualify for free parking for the rest of the day - they are really hard to miss! So it looks like management have really made the effort to communicate this to customers to save getting caught out after the 30 min grace period. I made a round trip of 200 miles to pick up my Dad to take him here - he really enjoyed this day out, thanks all 😊

We visited Surfside with the dog as we've done so for many years, had a nice coffee each and shared a light snack of cod bites with chips. The staff were pleasant as usual, and nothing seemed out of place. Then to my shock I've received a parking fine for supposedly not having a permit. No signs were clearly displayed other than a sign saying, 'free parking for customers only'. None of the staff in either the takeaway where we bought our fish & chips or the restaurant where we bought our coffees mentioned any change. I contacted Surfside, and was told it was the landlord's fault and have been reassured more signs have now been put up!!! I am appalled at not only this sneaky practice by whoever controls the car park and the attitude of the restaurant owners. I can only recommend people to be fully aware, there fish & chips could cost them far more than they expected. Better still, best avoid!!!
