I came in last week for some lunch with my Husband and had a very unsatisfactory meal in which we had to wait an eternity for. To be fair, my Husbands starter wasn’t too bad but I had the mushrooms on burnt brioche bread. For main, my Husband had the steak which tasted burnt never mind chargrilled. I had fish cakes which were supposed to have come with some sort of cheddar and leek whatever but instead I got a plate of salad. The fish cakes themselves were a sloppy mess in the middle and came with a jug of mushroom sauce - very bizarre. We decided to skip dessert. We came on a weekday lunchtime where it was fairly quiet so no excuse for rubbish food....
Read moreCan't recommend this place enough, the owners we met were both very pleasant, the building itself well presented with lovely flowers about the place with a garden at rear. The food! What can I say, beats everything hands down we've eaten in many months, I had the wagyu burger and the pregnant Mrs had the Shepard's pie (actual pie with shredder lamb) both were cooked to perfection, great portion size and seasoned again.. to perfection.
Monday's is the day off for them, but we stayed camping at Blackland Lakes and it's only a stone's throw away.

Read moreJust returned home from an outstanding evening meal at The Talbot Inn and knew we had to write a review to say a massive thanks to Mar & Steve for their excellent customer service tonight.Lovely friendly service from Mar, and Steve the chef went above and beyond to personally make mums favourite dessert !! The Ox cheek and the Duck dishes were so tasty and presented beautifully.... and the vanilla creme brûlée was the absolute best !
