Large car park outside was almost full when we arrived to eat one Thursday lunch time. Luckily my friend had booked a table for us. Inside the place has an eclectic feel to it. Wide range of different tables and chairs in which to sit. Good ranging menu with a separate specials menu available on the day. I ordered the fish and chips and switched the peas to garden. My friend ordered the sea bass. My chips were lovely. A decent portion and piping hot. The fish was good. Not the best I have had but still good. The garden peas were great. Minty and they must have had butter melted on them. My friend enjoyed her sea bass but, if I had ordered it, I know it would not have filled me. Food was pricey compared to other locations but good quality. But for me the portions should have been bigger for the price. However, I would visit again and, based on this visit, I would suggest you book beforehand as it was very busy even for a Thursday lunch time.

Had a family weekend to celebrate an anniversary. Service in the bar and restaurant was great, staff were really friendly and food was great too. We had a family room booked but arrived about 7 when we were due to eat. Quickly got the key and then headed to restaurant. When we finally got to our family room it was nice and clean but we couldn't get into kids room as it was locked. Headed back to the bar to query this, they finally got us a key to open the door to find the beds were not made. We then started to make the beds ourselves but couldn't find duvet covers. Went back to the bar for help again, after repeatedly being told they were bar staff and not housekeeping they could only find sheets. I ended up having to wrap a sheet around the duvet to make a cover, thankfully this was sorted the next morning but not something you expect doing at 11pm.

My wife and I got married here in October 2021 and we had such an incredible day. The service, food, entertainment and accommodation was all top notch. When planning a wedding there are a million and one things to do and at the centre of this is the venue. The Tempest Arms was exactly what we were looking for - a lovely warm, rustic and country atmosphere. It was a pleasure working with Natalie and all the staff at the Tempest Arms. They are very knowledgeable, approachable and passionate in what they do. They were also very flexible and accommodating of our needs and went the extra mile to make our day special. We're so glad we chose to get married here, thanks again for everything.

The hotel is in a lovely countryside location close to Skipton (approx. 5 miles) with great car parking facilities plus for all you dog owners this is a dog friendly hotel so your furry members of the family are welcome to stay too

Stayed for 2 nights at the Tempest Arms whilst attending a Wedding at the hotel

The wedding was wonderfully organised and executed – Superb food - A big Thank you to Natalie for making this day so special for my goddaughter – Much appreciated

Room 12 (Junior suite) was spacious, clean, tidy, very comfortable and quiet - however the décor is a little bit dated (refurbishment is due to be carried out on all the rooms according to the staff later this year / early next year) Haha take a large handbag for the key fob for the room! It’s a very large pear shaped piece of wood with the key attached – definitely one way of making sure the key gets handed in at checkout!!

The room had 2 large beds – Great night’s sleep - a sofa and chairs seating area hence being called a junior suite – all the amenities expected in a hotel room were there – Flat screen TV / hair dryer/ fridge / iron & ironing board / tea & coffee making facilities – a few sockets but no USB points for charging phones etc. – Not sure on the quality of the Wi-Fi connection as used mobile data and didn’t have any connection problems

The bathroom was a good size included bath plus overhead shower – Dressing gowns / toiletries etc. were all in the room the only thing missing was a shower cap!

Breakfast was included in the price of the room – Loads of food choices catering for every dietary requirement – if it wasn’t listed you only had to ask – they catered for our every whim! So tried full English one morning and the vegetarian option the other both excellent plus loads of tea/coffee and toast

Bar has plenty of choice serving a great selection of drinks - these can be consumed inside the inn or at the outside seating areas if you want to drink alfresco – weather permitting!!

Staff were fantastic so welcoming, very friendly and helpful throughout the stay – Nothing was too much trouble – all questions and queries answered – Sharon on reception was exceptional with sorting out the booking plus sorting out the arrival & departure

Had a great time - Would...

The staff at the Tempest arms were very friendly from the check in staff to the staff in the pub and the cleaners they were all cheerful and helpful. The room we stayed in was very generously sized and had a super king sized bed which allowed for an excellent nights sleep after a long days drive and a walk around outlet and up to Ilkley moor. It has ample storage space for clothes and a very nice electric log burner styled heater which added to the rugged, rustic atmosphere of the surrounding area. The bathroom was also generously sized however we had booked the room on the strength of the pictures of it having a roll top bath which came as a disappointment when we discovered this wasn’t that case however I suspect this had something to do with our room being dog friendly which makes the case understandable. The bath itself was a decent size although the shower head was mounted a bit low which means taller people would struggle showering comfortably. The private garden area the room has access to is excellently sized giving even the biggest of dogs ample space to roam. It also has a very nice seating area which was perfect for sitting out and watching a film and a very good patio heater would make this possible on all but the coldest of winter days. The pub itself is situated in the heart of the Yorkshire dales which means it is on,y a short drive to a number of local beauty spots and close to places such as Ilkley, Skipton and Malham. It is excellently situated for people wishing to enjoy a walking holiday as the location offers ample choice for a number of beautiful walks and hikes including Malham Tarn or even Pen-y-Ghent. Inside the pub it is very pleasant in decor and general atmosphere with very friendly bar staff and a very good selection of ales. The food we enjoyed was of superb quality and added another strength to a hotel meaning guests have a very solid option for a place to enjoy an evening meal and one I would highly recommend. This is a hotel I would almost certainly return to and my partner and I enjoyed our stay very much and wish to pass our thanks on to all the staff at the...

Very disappointed to write this review, having moved to the area around 6 months ago and visiting on several occasions, on this last occasion I have left with an extremely bitter taste in my mouth. Myself and my partner ate here this evening and whilst her food and to be fair my main were very nice. I had to complain to staff about my starter. I ordered the duck spring rolls from the specials menu. (Coincidentally so did the table seated behind me ) A lady at a table sitting behind me received hers first and I was impressed at the look of it and excited to receive mine. When my starter arrived I was treated with a solitary 4 inch spring roll cut in half. I looked at this and thought, this looks nothing like the adjacent customers and priced at £8.95 I thought they had a bit a nerve. I even spoke to the table behind who confirmed they had two large spring rolls and the previous evening they had been served three. When staff came I mentioned this to them and to say I was given the attitude of not being believed, like perhaps I had swallowed the second one whole, or sneaked it into my pocked for the dog would be an understatement. I assured staff that mine looked nothing like my adjacent tables order and was told “I will sort it out”. On arrival of our bill the grand sum of £3 had been “management deducted” , so not even half price for half a starter…… ANYONE in the restaurant business knows that the whole item should have been deducted, you had clearly ran out and tried to “get away with it” rather than being open and honest and then to deduct £3 is an insult. I will not be back and I’d recommend anyone looking at reviews to go here , the food is of a standard you can find at other places such as the Craven Heifer, the customer service is not. Well done to The the manager on saving yourself £5.95 tonight and losing two local customers and family who will...
