Service was amazing first time back since the refit but the food has lost its standards ordered the Swiss burger looked amazing at first but unfortunately it was very burnt so let it down which is very sad even the bun had to suffer but the chips where amazing

8 of us more mature men for a "club lunch". Beer was well kept and, to.be honest, that was about.it! The rest I would have left to fate but ths site asks for a review. We took our beers to the table and waited for someone to take the order. And waited. And waited. One of us noticed a code thing on the table to scan to place the order. It didn't work. So one of us took our individual orders on a bit of paper and took them to the bar. Then we waited for about 40 minutes for the food to arrive. In the meantime the beer in our glasses had run out. We asked one of the staff if they could take a refresh order. "Sorry, I'm doing something else". 10 minutes later, asked again. Similar excuse. Food arrived. Well, 7 orders out of 8 arrived, they were all placed together. The 8th arrived as the rest of us had nearly finished. Being gentlemen, we tried waiting for the complete order before eating but gave up as the food was getting cold. Food across the table was fish and chips and mushy peas. I can only say that the fish still had some growing left to do. I had the Katsu curry. Well. The rice was good. Chips were sparse. And the "curry" ... A breast of chicken in some crispy coasting that had possibly been deep fried. It was then cut into strips (crusty bit left on) and some slurry sauce plonked on top. Not very impressive. It's a curry for God's sake. We've been cooking curry in the UK for generations. It's almost a national dish. How can you mess it up? We finished our meals (without our refill beer as the staff member was too busy) and waited for the bill. Eventually I had to go and ask for it. I had to go twice because nobody behind the bar. Second time I went I noticed one of the staff was at a table watching the racing at Cheltenham! Then the last peculiarity. We were told we had to go to the bar to pay. (I would point out that there's a restaurant side to this establishment which is where we were sitting so we kind of expected a firm of table service). 6 of us clubbed together, passing hard cash to one of us and he would pay with his card. We were told that the card machine would only work in the bar!! Then this was amended to "I can only take one card transaction at a time and need to go to the bar to process it". So this server took the transactions one at a time. BUT ....she couldn't take the tip on the card machine, and omitted to say this until the final transaction when our friend only had to pay a small sum as the tip couldn't go through. So they didn't get a tip! On reflection, that's justice because the word TIP stands for To Insure Promptness, and we certainly didn't experience that. Would we...

After being a regular here for a couple of years for both food and drink things have gone seriously down hill. If you’re coming here for drinks and a friendly atmosphere (although maybe not after I post this) then you won’t be disappointed. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the food, it’s been getting worse for some time. The last few weeks running now they either don’t have half of the menu or what they do serve is missing something (tonight’s example being the beef pie that was ordered and when served we’re told there is no gravy, not to mention the raw broccoli). If you’re lucky enough to get what you ordered there’s also a very good chance it’s either very over or under cooked.

As previously mentioned the toilets are akin to something in a third world country, certainly the men’s constantly smells badly with leaking urinals leaving puddles all over the floor and don’t get me started on the amount of drugs that are consumed in there!

Although I’ve not met the new Landlord yet I’m hoping he can turn things around as this used to be a great place for...

Read on their website that today was opening evening after refurbishment. Wanting to find somewhere local to frequent , my friend and I thought it would be good to support the opening. We spent £12 on an Uber. Were greeted by a very rude lady who asked if we had “tickets”. I explained we didn’t know we needed tickets as this was not explained on the website. She flatly stated “tonight is for ticket holders only and demanded we left.

We stood outside whilst we gathered our thoughts about what had happened and where to go. A guy (manager ?) came out to try and explain and acknowledged that the website was not clear. Whilst we waited for an Uber to bring us home, 9 other people were turned away for not having ticket. They at least could have offered a drink as a way of an apology. If the other people were like us, looking for a new place to frequent, then they have lost the new business. Obviously are not interested in welcoming new comers update 07th July . I have emailed the “number” I was given in the...
