Everything you might expect a village pub to be. On the crossroads, opposite the duck pond at the centre of the village. Clearly a very old building, which is reflected inside, although also very comfortable. To the right as you enter is a busy games room with pool table. On the left is a cosy, low-ceilinged lounge, full of character but not twee. Beyond this is a separate restaurant room. Two cask beers are offered, at reasonable prices. I have arranged a pre Christmas meal for our street for the last 17 years. And have had meals in many restaurants and pubs in and around Bridlington. This year I decided to give the Anvil Arms a try, 20 of us had a pre ordered Christmas meal on Thursday evening and every one said It was one of the best Meals we have had over the last 17 years. We have been going to the Anvil for many years and we highly rate this venue, hence the five star rating. The food and service is outstanding. Excellent choice of menu particularly for Sunday lunch. Choice of meats, and includes seven vegetables and two potatoes. Not forgetting the Yorkshire Pudding. Staff are very efficient and friendly and the food is very reasonably priced offering excellent value.
