The pub was very beautiful and had its own style. It's definitely not any old pub ,lots of history and lovely staff! We stay here for our friends wedding perfect location. Was only 6 mins from my friends venue. Free car parking no need to pay extra which was great.

We paid £310 for two nights with breakfast included.

Breakfast wasn't bad at all, very flexible on food or - add bacon and eggs cooked over easy. Which coffee was not just filled but barrista. It would have made the breakfast go the extra mile.

would rather breakfast went on till half 10 / 11am. Breakfast was 8-10 , however we missed breakfast on our last day as we were packing to get out of the room.

Even though breakfast was still offered breakfast with 3 minutes to spare. We felt it would have be a Hassel. Would recommend extending breakfast at least to checking out customers till half past or 11am.

Our room was very small , the bathroom had a shower. However, the doors didn't open fully so was a bit of a pickle getting in and out. Our room was right next to a door in the hallway. Where other people staying were going in and out off. Found it hard to have a full sleep as we got woken up by voices and the door in the hall way.

I did love the very special touch of cooks in a jar. The milk given to us by our lovely staff member to make sure we had some for our room coffee.

Over all the people that worked there were amazing! I would say again but maybe not have room 11. The hotel can't help people walking around. It was a very beautiful hotel/ pub and staff made our stay. Especially a very happy Bar men would engage in...

Judging by the good reviews looks like we were unlucky! Booked a table for the family for just after 1pm ordered food shortly after, 40 mins later still nothing. Kids were very hungry especially my 3 year old who was getting pretty upset at this point.

Asked the waiter how much longer it will be only to be told they had overbooked by also using the train carriage out the front but not to worry ours is being platted up.

Another 20 mins goes past and kids are now so hungry they are crying so an hour after we ordered I asked again only to be told "the chef can't say when your food will be with you".

Don't appreciate being lied to to be honest and not even as much as an appologie from the staff. So with that we just left, went to arboro lounge in ringwood which when it comes to service could teach this place a thing or to to be honest.

A real shame overall as the food did actually look good and Judging by the good reviews it probably would have been a good Sunday lunch if they hadn't had bitten off more than they could chew by overbooking.

Appreciate they were busy and want book tables up for business but they clearly couldn't handle it.

To be honest the most annoying part was the lack of service or appologie even when we said we were leaving. Won't be going back there...

I booked my family in to 3 rooms for the Saturday so we could celebrate my birthday and it was immediately evident we were going to be well looked after by the people at the hotel. A nice touch was the flask with fresh milk for tea in our rooms instead of those sanitized pots of milk. The service level was very good without being overbearing and everyone enjoyed the food. Maybe the chef could have been a little more generous with the breakfast avocado but that's a small point. Rooms were of a good size for a short stay and well serviced but you might want to arrange a larger room if you stayed a week. Shower was great. The bar area and restaurant felt cozy and welcoming which is just what I wanted. There is a mixture of different armchairs, some a little worn but we actually liked the coziness of that bar area. Our Golden Retriever received lots of attention and some special treats from Amanda the manager which she loved. Opposite the hotel is a never ending forest to walk your dog, or just walk in. Yes, I would recommend the Avon Causeway Hotel if you want to visit this area, it's in a quiet spot but in a good location for Christchurch, the New Forest, Moors Valley country park etc and we will certainly look forward to another stay when the weather is warmer to...

Maybe I drew the short straw when I stayed here.... as I went by the reviews and booked a double room. I was gutted as there was no bath but for 1 night, a shower would be OK but even this was broken. It Wouldn't stay up so would suit 5ft and below...Also if you have longer hair and want to was your hair, make sure you bring conditioner! For a room that costs £110-130 a night, I would assume conditioner would be provided. My room (11) was right next to the hallway door which does not close quietly at all! Made me jump out my sleep a couple of times. Also, I had the worst view just top it off as well! The positives are it's in a good location and I loved how comfortable the beds are, and the breakfast was nice. I also had dinner here but would say their portions seem on the smaller side but it done the job so I could just go up to bed And another note, they say they can take your food order at the bar or at the table so I sat down unknowingly that you get a charge for them serving you at your table. There was an extra charge on my receipt. I was not informed of extra charges Upon leaving I made staff aware and they made a note of the shower, and said nothing else! So on that note, I don't think I'd stay here again

Absolutely fantastic little gem in Christchurch. I visit the area a few times a year visiting family and usually stay in the Premier Inn just because it’s easy - but this time decided to give the Avon Causeway a try instead. I’m so glad I did - the pub is nicely furnished with the train and railway theme running through it (as it’s an old station) and the room was of a good standard with everything you need. The little touches like a mini cafetière and posh tea and coffee in the room made a nice change from the generic stuff you get in other hotels. The bathroom was good - shower pressure was excellent! I stayed for 2 nights and had breakfast both mornings in the pub - both times the food was really excellent, fresh and local and beautifully presented. I had dinner one of the nights and the food was great - decent portions, tasty and good no value. The area that really makes it special though is the staff - they really go above any beyond, very friendly and chatty and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I will definitely be back and this is now my first choice when I’m visiting the area.

I visited the Avon Causeway Inn on Wednesday 18 December 2019 in the evening, a weekday during term time. I was with two other people. This was my fourth of fifth visit. The pub/hotel is slightly off the beaten track but easy enough to find with Google Maps. I parked in the car park - parking was easy. This very interesting former railway station is set out in a traditional pub style, bright and well decorated, with plenty of tables with full table service. The team were very friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I enjoyed a baked feta cheese with honey and walnuts for my starter, the Walter Rose 6oz beef burger for my main course and the coconut milk rice pudding for dessert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was very good value for money, I paid just over £30 for three courses and drinks. Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come and visit again.
