Arrived at the pub and parked the car, the outside seating area is directly adjacent. I walked to the seating area with my niece and dog ( several dogs there) and found ab empty table. I was then approached by a guy who I assume to have been the duty manager. He told me I would have to go back out of the though the gate leading to the carpark and come to the front of the pub to check in. To be fair there was a sign on a chalkboard as I walk though the gate saying no entry, but this was not highlighted, and looked like a specials menu at a glance. I then walked back around to the front of the building to see the same guy at the front. We exchanged some banter about his twin brother working out the back. He asked me to check in the the NHS track and trace app ( something I don't have) so I nonchalantly waved my locked phone at the barcode, which granted me access to the table. The ludicrous thing is, by makeing guests walk though the pub, subjects them to further risk of coming in contact with the Corona virus - which I explained to him. Totally ludicrous. It could be so easily circumvented by having a second copy of their unique QR at the back too. I was then handed a small piece of paper with a further QR to order online. The paper had been used possibly several times before at there was a telephone number on the back! I have no idea who Emma is, but the Bakers Arms gave no thought to her privacy by handing me this. The food and service after we ordered was good on the upside.

I visited The Bakers Arms on Saturday 28 December 2019 at lunchtime. I was with three other people. I have visited this pub a number of times over the years. I had booked a table in advance online, which was simple and proved wise as it did fill up as we were sat there. I parked in the pub car park right outside - parking was easy. The restaurant comprises of one fairly large sized main dining area with plenty of tables with full table service - there is also a bar area, again, with plenty of tables. The team were bland if I'm honest. We stood at the "please wait here to be seated" sign for several minutes while the member of staff waiting at this point ignored us and carried on with what he was doing, we were then seated and were what I would describe as processed - there was no small talk or interest taken, drinks orders were taken and then food orders were taken then around an hour later the food eventually arrived. The food was perfectly OK. I had the Hunters Chicken. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The meal was reasonable value for money, I paid less than £20 for the main and one drink. Overall it was perfectly adequate - the setting is nice, the food was nice, just no-one really put any effort in to the customer experience and it took ages for the food to come out even though it was practically empty when we arrived.

Who doesn't love a Sunday Roast in a beautiful country pub 😀 The Bakers Arms has had a recent refurbishment and WOW, it's stunning ! We had a Roast and Pie options - food was exceptional, unlimited gravy for roasts 👌 and it was great gravy! Lovely outdoor seating and plenty of it. We had great weather, it was just beautiful. Now this may be controversial - ** I don't advocate drink driving by any stretch ** I wasn't driving my sister was , it was a warm afternoon so she decided on one shandy with her dinner. She asked the barman what was the lowest alcohol options so she could have a shandy , she mentioned she was driving (you have to drive to the location, it's in the middle of nowhere ) The barman refused to serve her ! Which is fine that's his perogative as a responsible seller of alcohol. It was the way he presented himself, almost telling her off for her choice of drink. He didn't offer her any alcohol free options. So she settled on a soft drink, and it wasn't a big deal . It just felt very judgmental. Looking around the car park was packed, and there was plenty of wine on most tables ! My point is don't judge people, we are responsible drivers . If the drink drive policy was ZERO tolerance then I'd expect it ! Just put a sour taste on the experience 😔

We arrived just before 5pm, for our pre-booked dining slot. We waited by the entrance 10 minutes, in that time there were 7 members of staff walking around, making drinks, coffees, placing orders, also clearly handing over day to evening shifts. Not one person acknowledged us. Eventually we were taking to a table by the most miserable young lady I've ever come across (we interrupted her whilst she was discussing her boxing classes with her colleague!). Another lady came over and took a drinks order, which was delivered relatively promptly. The same lady came back and took the food order, which was just five main courses, plus a kids garlic bread for starter. The garlic bread arrived about 10 minutes later. We then saw no one else for almost 1 hour. My husband went a spoke to a member of staff and was told that, because there had been a starter, our mains had been pushed to the back of the queue! It was kids garlic bread! The mains arrived relatively quickly after this (so an hour and 10 minutes after ordering.) The food was tasty and good portion sizes. We then ordered desserts and coffee. We were told there was no coffee, apart from decaf for milky drinks (apart from for filter coffee americanos). Our desserts and decaf coffees arrived pretty swiftly. I got up to pay, as there were no staff around to ask for the bill. There was some discount for the waiting time, but I'd rather have paid full price and had a good meal in good time, with staff that know how to smile! Overnight last night,my husband has been poorly, which we can only deduce is from the Signature Burger. All in all, really disappointing and will absolutely not be returning. When was the last hygiene inspection,out...

Shocking service yesterday. My husband went to the bar to order and when ordering he wasn’t asked to set up a tab or pay, the young girl who served him turned to get the drinks and he went to pay by card but nothing appeared on the pdq. She was more interested in talking to her colleague. When ordering we were not informed of the half an hour wait for food so not a great start. Roughly half an hour later the same girl comes through to where we are sat and loudly declares (to us and the table around us) our card was declined. Well she never even asked for payment so how can that happen?! My husband went back and paid. We then waited another half an hour because clearly the till ticket had not gone to the kitchen before. When our roasts did arrive they came without the side order which had clearly been forgotten about too. By this time we had been there for over an hour, no one then checked if we wanted another drink or our food was okay when it did eventually come. The table next to us sat down a few minutes after the declined card declaration and received their roasts about five minutes after ours which is why I can say for certain the order never got to the chef the first time round. The only saving grace was that the roast beef and trio of roasts was very tasty and came with ample vegetables, potatoes and gravy. The waitress in a knee brace who was clearly very busy and bought our food was very friendly too. Shame that one member of staff...
