Herefordian by birth who moved away( not very far) who most Saturdays visit family not too far away from the Bay. Every 3 or 4 weeks for the last 6 months or so we book a table after visiting for an early evening meal prior to going home. The menu changes seasonally and we have never been less than impressed by the variety and quality of the food on offer. Yesterday evening was our first experience of their new menu and we left extolling it's virtues. We shared 3 new starters- Monkfish Scampi( hard now to look at regular scampi in quite the same way), Cajun Chicken Loaded Fries and Hoisin Duck Loaded Fries(both well seasoned and textured). Their range of excellent Loaded Fries are for the most part refreshingly cheese free and their Steak Loaded Fries are my Desert Island Choice for sure. The Mains. Our son chose the Katsu Curry which he thoroughly enjoyed, his mother chose the Short Rib of Beef which was beautifully cooked and again well seasoned and I chose the Chicken and Mushroom Pie with Swede and Carrot Mash and the highest compliment that I can pay to this dish was that it tasted like pies used to.. the pie has no air in it and was full of chicken and Mushroom. Exquisite. Dessert is their homemade White Chocolate and Biscoff chessecake which is again well proportioned, not too sweet and as delicious as it sounds. The atmosphere is always nice and relaxed and the waiting staff are all very polite and attentive. At the risk of offending any other pub/restaurant offering food, the Bay Horse is the kind of hostelry that once you have sampled their wares, your expectations for other institutions can become unrealistic. Always a 5* star pleasure visiting the Bay Horse. Highly...

Friendly Pub but not a local. The restaurant area is a bit clinical for my liking : the sort of place you take your mother in law if you are polite to each other but dont like each other. Food quality is above everage, quantity is lower, price higher. The sunday roast could certainly do with a few more vegetables but was nice enough. Not the best Sunday Roast in Hereford (which was the awesome roast at the Travellers Rest when Yvonne was the owner / cook) but good enough. The staff are efficient and friendly. The better part of the place is the lounge which has is slightly more comfortable. In the lounge you will find the bar and a sprinkling of old men a few families eating + sounds of one or two children. Not quite like a local pub but pleasant enough. There isn't a staggering range of drinks on offer but one or two for most people. There are regular themed nights which are worthwhile. The selection of food is large so there will be something for everyone including a choice for veggie's. If you want a decent meal and drink in a decent atmosphere this place will do, but it's nothing to get excited about and equally nothing is wrong with it either other than being a shade pricier that an everage pub/inn. Perhaps the extra is worth it to know it wont have any drunks or loud disturbing group. Expect to be fit in nicely if you buy your clothes from Marks-and-Spencer or Laura Ashley....

Overall, it was okay. I wouldn’t come back though. The service on arrival was very swift & efficient. We were served really quickly and drinks brought outside to us within minutes. The food on the other hand took an eternity to arrive and there was only 2 of us. We had fish and chips and hunter’s chicken with a tear and share garlic bread. We waited about 40 minutes for our food, which I wouldn’t have minded if it was really busy, but there were only 2 other tables occupied outside & 2 inside. It was a large portion on each plate. My husbands fish and chips was okay, but mine was disappointing my chicken was really rock hard & dry, it tasted like it had be stood around for ages, not cold but so dried out on the edges I couldn’t cut it properly. My chips were the same. The thing that disappointed me most was the service with the food. The lady (she was an older lady and she had a blonde ponytail) never checked if we were happy with our meal and she never asked if we would like another drink. I really needed some sauce too, again she didn’t offer any sauces at all. She put the plates down and that was the last we saw of her. I would have bought more drinks too! Needs an overhaul here with staff training to...

Both my husband and myself really enjoyed our food. Great choices for my husband but as a pescatarian it was a little limited which I'm used to, though more choice than other places I've been to. I got the fish board which was nice and enough to feed two. Really nice to have crab on a menu. Different and worth going again. Staff nice and polite and thankfully not overly attentive. Didn't get asked how my food was whilst having a mouthful. A nice afternoon experience.

It was my granddaughter's birthday and suggested going out for lunch. We discussed the picnic bench and both Freya and her brother Josh were excited. The bench of food did not disappoint. But they struggled to eat all the food . The staff offered boxes to take any left over food home. Great idea. So doughnuts, cupcakes and cream fingers were taken home for tea. A great experience I'm sure both children will be telling their friends about.
