Fantastic dog friendly place with welcoming landlords and home cooked Sunday dinner. Holidaying in the area we decided to call in one night for a drink and received a warm welcome from the landlords Kim and Brian. They told us about their bingo night the following night so we decided to go along and are so glad we did, it was fun. The place was packed with friendly locals and we were made to feel welcome so much so that we booked in for Sunday lunch the following day. Sunday lunch was excellent as were the desserts. The portions were hot and plentiful and there was a good selection of vegetables. My husband had apple crumble with custard for dessert and I had ice-cream. A two course meal cost £16 per person so we were really pleased. We've eaten a few Sunday lunches on our caravan travels now and can honestly say this is the best one we have ever had. We would recommend it to others and will certainly call back when we are in the area. Thank you very much for an enjoyable weekend.

Lovely pub, very friendly staff and fabulous vegan options. Great location and was super clean throughout. I went with the BBQ cauliflower kebab and it was lush- sometimes a risky choice in other places as easy to over or under cook but they were spot on it was delicious. Great pricing as well highly recommended 😊

Called in with friends for an evening meal at 5.30 on Sunday 16th of July 2017.

All the warning signs were there when we sat at a table next to the window!

Dead flies, along with some live ones, were all over the windowsill, sticky and dirty table mats and a limited menu of 7 items chalked on a board behind the bar with NO PRICES visible.

We ordered three lasagna and a chicken curry, what a mistake.

They were all poor quality ready meals just warmed up in the microwave with some cold greasy chips thrown on the side and were absolutely appalling with one portion of lasagna containing a piece of sharp clear plastic about half an inch long.

Needless to say we left the meals feeling totally and utterly ripped off by being charged almost £40 for four cheap tasteless ready meals which probably cost about £2.20 each at the supermarket.

On the way out i showed the barman the piece of plastic i had found in my lasagna and he just shrugged his shoulders and never said a word which i found very strange!

You would think alarm bells would be ringing in the kitchen when four plates are returned with only partially eaten food on them.

Needless to say we will not be returning and i would suggest if the new landlord and the so called chef do not up there game this establishment will be closed by the end of the year as that is one of the worst meals & customer service i have ever experienced in a pub or...

RUBBISH!!!! My husband and I booked 2 weeks 5 days prior to visiting for what we hoped would be a fab Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. I had emailed to book our reservation, mentioning that I am vegetarian with x2 additional allergies and I was assured that they would be able to cater to my needs. My husband ordered drinks and made enquiries as to what the veggi options were whilst I took a seat. An older waitress approached our table and said without any pleasantries, 'Do you want beef or chicken?' I mentioned being vegetarian and she turned and walked away..... My husband had asked the man behind the bar for help and he also disappeared...???? We were left without any further communication for about 15 mins. When the man from behind the bar reappeared he started by saying 'I've got a problem, there's no option for you' he said 'normally I'd give you a "chicken thing"(?), but there's non left' he said 'Peter didn't make a note in the book to buy anything and I've only just seen your email'. There was no offer to make anything or to suggest a solution to the problem. .... The only option left was for us to leave. This is the worst experience I've ever had as a vegetarian eating out. For gods sake, even as a vegetarian in the 1970's someone would have offered an omelette!!! Stuck in a culinary time warp, give it a miss. There are so many better places to eat than here....like Greggs for...
