Met family here for lunch & were pleased to enjoy well organised outdoor seating with plenty of shade & a view across fields. Staff were attentive and courteous. Everything was spotless with large nice quality linen napkins which are helpful when dining with children. 🙄 There is no children’s menu.

All our chosen food was nicely presented & delicious but (there’s always a “but”) the “seafood stew with focaccia” was of a thick baby purée consistency & strong on tomato flavour. The focaccia was a slice of absolutely rock hard Italian bread the crust of which was almost impossible to eat even after using a pneumatic drill to break it up! The purée was too thick to soak in and soften it. We did mention this to staff at the till and he agreed as he’d had the same experience the day before. If you like a thick purée and have all your own teeth, go for it!

Anyway, we enjoyed the ambience, polite and kind staff and immaculate facilities so might go there again if we’re up that way for a visit to Stourhead NT house &...

I visited The Bell & Crown on Saturday 9 December 2023 in the early evening. I was with two other people. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the pub, which was easy and led me straight to the right place.

I parked in the street just outside the pub - there is a small car park but it was full - that said, parking was easy.

The pub comprises of a number of dining areas with plenty of tables with full table service. The restaurant was bright and clean.

The team were incredibly friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I enjoyed the cheeseburger for my main course and the sticky toffee sundae for my dessert. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. The food was reasonable value for money, I paid around £40 for two courses and drinks.

Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come and...

We arrived for our overnight stay in time for dinner and we’re pleasantly surprised. We loved our evening meal although we felt that the comfort, setting and service were a little informal compared to the gastro-pub menu and prices. That said there was plenty to choose from, plus homemade sourdough pizza! Our room was delightful. Spotless and comfortable. Obviously recently redecorated to a high standard. All our needs catered for. Particularly liked fresh milk for our tea/coffee provided in a small thermos and a cafetière with choice of packs of ground coffee. Extremely glad to find a decaf’ option! It was quite a warm night and wish we’d spotted the air conditioning before the morning (it would have helped to have it pointed out). Breakfast was outstanding. We ordered ‘off menu’ , the chef was happy to accommodate us. Lattes were included, which was a bonus (and exceptional). Next time we’re travelling through we will definitely be booking...

Great location, close to Wincanton. Extremely welcoming pub in the lovely village of Zeal. Has car chargers, which is a must now. Rooms are above the pub, but you can't hear anything. Get a coffee percolator with both full and decaf ground coffee, both amazing. Room is very comfy and the bathroom spacious with walk in shower. Has amazing pressure too. Food in the restaurant is very tasty and plentiful. They have their own brewery, so pints go down nicely. Breakfast is servered fairly early, so good for those who need to get out before 8. For me, they did a takeaway bacon butty as I couldn't stay. Amazing service and would be happy to recommend.

Basically my local, even though there are pubs more local to me. Great beers (their own pretty much - Rude Giant) , great food and above all a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Just feels right. A friend stayed in the rooms upstairs recently too and he was very happy. Quality decor, fixtures and fittings and a good, big, breakfast comprising of quality ingredients. The pizza on a Monday is up there with the best I've had as well and I've had pizza in Naples. Part of an excellent, small group of pubs that are all very similar in quality and service. Love the place.

Amazing food. Amazing staff, very attentive and very friendly. Very dog friendly place Very family friendly You get a cute little jar of water with cucumber shavings of which is a nice touch, especially when finishing a long dog walk. Parking is off to the back/ side as you enter your greated with a round of greetings from all the friendly staff who quickly show you to your seat. Food was quick, yet you are not made to feel rushed. The atmosphere is very calming and relaxing with the cute candles dotted around the pub.
