It's a shame I've had to rate with any stars at all to review this dreadful place as it's not worth the one I've given! My daughter visits her fiancé each week-he is a patient at Glenside Hospital. She herself is unwell due to the same accident that put her fiancé where he is. As it's a seven hour round trip, she always stays overnight and sometimes, for a few days at a lovely b&b nearby but unfortunately, it was fully booked so she decided to stay at the bell inn. What a dreadful mistake!!! The owners of the bell inn made my daughters stay very unpleasant. They are rude and obviously have no idea about hospitality, which is strange given the nature of their business!!!! There are too many bad points to mention but just to give you an idea of how appalling her stay was, I'll give a couple of examples: The male owner took it upon himself to unlock her door at 9.15am to check the tv??? My daughter was in the middle of getting dressed! Another visit to her room, he was so nasty that she had a panic attack which left her in tears-at which point, he said "sorry"and asked if she and her partner would be eating in the restaurant later!!! His wife is no better-very rude and the both of them should feel very ashamed for putting a young vulnerable woman through such an ordeal!!!! Don't be fooled by first impressions-they may seem like nice, friendly people, but they're not. I'd say they're in it for whatever money they can get not. Stay anywhere but here....
Read moreWe’re friendly when first took over the pub, helped them Decorate the pub for Christmas twice at no cost then when went for a quick bite was treated with sustain. They have offended locals who let’s be honest now rather drink at home than support what was a fabulous local. AVOID AT ALL COST AS DI O NOT WANT LOCAL BUSINESS!!! May I suggest you look after locals rather than alienate them. The Bell used to be the hub of the village, had the landlady and landlord not been so rude then this vcojld be the hub of the village again. So so many people have been offended by the currant tenants that they don’t return. It would be in the interest of the village that yhe currant tenements sold it back to the Pembroke estate so as to have real village landlords back in charge of a great village pub. No apologies given. Guess truth hurts 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I feel you Need to remember who first supported you when you took over the pub and then the ( loosely used phrase) Landlady abused me when I asked for fish pie( which was on your menu) but told I could have it after an hour! Really??? You had a table pod six (pre ordered)...
Read moreBooked via 3rd party provider. Was contacted by landlord prior to arrival to confirm. Allocated a ground floor double room with a small fridge, coffee making facilities and wet room comprising of the shower and toilet/sink. Bed was comfortable and the surroundings were quiet even though we were adjacent to the pub and pub garden. Pub garden was a good size and private. Parking was barrier access across the road from the pub. Landlord & Landlady were the only staff so did well to manage the pub, the food prep and the rooms. Landlord was jack of all trades and had plenty of food orders to contend with. Don't know how he managed it all as he was under pressure. Great menu and food was very good and you could tell it was homemade. External areas had plenty of plant pots and borders but nothing planted at time of visit. Children's play area was secure and had large swing and slide set. It was weather worn and a a bit grubby from the elements. Overall would recommend a stay. Probably trying to keep costs down by not having staff but they do well for...
