I had a great evening in the Bird in the Hand last night. My friend and I had booked a table, which is definitely advised - it was so busy!!
Busy with locals drinking, which was great to see in these post-covid times, and also diners. They have perspex screens suspended in front of the bar, and hand sanitisers. Otherwise it all feels remarkably normal, which was lovely.
There was a lively and friendly atmosphere and the owner chatted to us twice, even clearing our plates. The rest of the staff were young, efficient and friendly, and perhaps most importantly, the food was GREAT. We had fish and veggie dishes but there were plenty of steaks on the menu too. It was all served quickly, was really tasty and perfectly seasoned. Got a huge thumbs up.

Our meal last night was no where near as good as it used to be, the food was over cooked steak ordered rare came well, floppy carrots, burnt onions in the sauce, even the breaded sea food platter starter was over done. Service was slow and poor, no one asked how our food was until we were âfinishedâ.
