A little diamond of a village pub, a visit well worth making, Stuart the Landlord and staff Deb's made us very welcome. The locals also very friendly. Good selection of delicious food on the menu, all extremely tastey. Made us welcome including our Colliepoo Ollie who loved the pubs selection of doggie treats. Stuart's handy village shop (run from a little shed in the beer garden) selling essentials at bargain prices also helped us out during our stay. Sorry you got busy when we had to leave and as such we weren't able to say thank you in person but thank you for your hospitality Stuart and wish you, your staff and the pub health and every happiness and a prosperous future. Take care and hopefully we will step through your threshold again sometime. Cheryl Steve & Ollie x

A nice, welcoming, dog-friendly village pub on the lovely green at Atwick and just a few hundred yards from the cliff edge. Open all day, should you fancy an impromptu pint, and serving food lunchtimes and evenings. Food is varied and is 'good honest' pub fare; all home made and of good-sized portions. Specials nights throughout the week - we often have the steak deal on a Friday and Saturday. Always a good range of well-kept beers with usually three or four hand pulled ales. With the option of outside seating in summer and a crackling real fire for the colder months, the Black Horse ticks many boxes.

This was a lovely pub in a quiet little village, which seemed very popular. The staff were very nice and friendly and there was plenty of seating outdoors and some indoors. This pub is dog friendly, indoors and outdoors. It was very clean, and the food was of descent portions. There is even a dog hydration station outside. The only reason I gave a lower mark was that my wife's steak was a little chewy, which in all fairness could have been the steak and I wanted a medium steak and it was a bit well done. Overall, though this is a lovely pub and would recommend

Hello, We, myself my indonesian girlfriend and my friends have been to the black horse in atwick as what was supposed to be the ending of an fantastic weekend at the campsite in atwick ( which was absolutely fantastic) As soon we walked in, the place was hectic, apparently is was “busy” We ordered our drinks at the bar, unfortunately I spilled a bit of my drink on the floor, I asked for a cloth to clean it up, the person ( later I found out the owner) looked at me, as he saw lightning flashing somewhere on the other side of the world, no answer was given but a wet sign was placed ( which was standing during our whole stay) There was something wrong with our table, double booking. After sitting there 1/2 hour I decided to order our food at the bar 2 portions of nachos as a starter and 3 steaks and a curry for mains. We had to wait 2 hours for our starters ( 2 bags of crisps and salsa sauce on a plate) As i said above it was “busy “ We ordered 3 steaks, 1 well done ( which was good) 1 medium which was well done and a medium rare, which was only just ok ( not fantastic, considering the time we had to wait) Also during our wait, a police officer came into the premises and sat behind us to interview the bar tender. I went to order our second drinks. I had to wait as the owner had to have a drink of his wine first If that’s the way an English pub works,, i as a dutchman does not recommend this pub at all I can’t say it was an unfriendly environment, as we had a good time with other complaining customers :) Please look at this review as a learning curve An I...

Apologies first for no photos, school boy error. The wife and i had a walk from FAR Grange caravan site through Skirlington along the coast down the long road, which kicks you out by the Black horse pub. We called in for food & drinks, wife had a cup of tea whilst I had a pint or two of Madri. Our food ordered was Lasagne with chips, garlic bread & salad & Giant Yorkshire pudding with roast beef mash & veg. Again, I forgot to take a photo, but believe me, two great portions of food, looks like they don't do small portions. We both enjoyed our food and pub and had a great conversation with Erica (front of house) & Michael (chef) both running the nice newly decorated pub. Apparently, the Sunday lunches and steak pie are well talked about, so no doubt we will return. Our walk was an hour on coastal paths, then 40 minutes back up the main road to far grange, easy walk so give it a go. Thanks,...

I am forced to disagree with Lucy Neals review. My mother (87 years old) and myself have visited here on a few occasions and each time we have found the landlord and the staff members incredibly polite and friendly. My mother left her glasses once and the landlord found them and kept them safe until we were able to collect them. It is now a standing joke between us now. The food is excellent. we have had Sunday lunch which is plentiful with lots of gravy. we have had food from the specials of the day game pie and venison pie. simply gorgeous. There is a good choice of puddings too. They have welcoming open fire which is kept well stoked with logs. Children and dog friendly. Its an absolute jewel which can rarely be found among all the plastic pubs which are taking over. It is a typical local pub ( not that typical in this day and age) and we travel about 30 miles to enjoy this...
