The Blacwell Ox Inn is now my favourite place for Thai food. Located in Carlton and it has some beautiful lodges located at the back of the restaurant. #foodie #foodtiktok #fyp #foodreview

First of all Google maps took us to the complete wrong place! We ended up on someone's drive (have suggested this edit to Google maps) The service was very average. Of the 4/5 members of staff who we saw, only 1 (the lady who seated us) came across as very friendly and like she liked her job. We had a mixed share board starter The chicken satay was dryer than the desert Spring rolls had no flavour Fish cakes had a funky flavour (I had to spit it out) However the prawn toast was nice! My partners steak tasted like liver The noodles tasted like shredded wheat and the garnish had the weirdest lemon taste to it The prawns in my dish were lovely! But the mushrooms were under cooked, there was minimal prawns compared to peppers and veg. And again the noodles weren't very pleasant! We were so excited to go too after hearing many good recommendations however we won't be returning!

Been going to this pub since I was a child, changed hands since then!! It’s in a beautiful village called Carlton. Now does Thai food which is very good, this place is always busy, did try to book a table a few days before but was fully booked, we stopped off for a drink and sat outside the front of the pub. Food still looks amazing main meals are about £15 plus but it’s good servings and good quality. Will definitely return as I have good memories of this place, next time I will book a table well in advance, would definitely recommend a visit.

Unfortunately after high expectations & promise, I would not recommend the Blackwell Ox for food. Four of us on our annual meet-up had a table booked on Friday evening, which was necessary because it was busy. Firstly, the prices show in online menu is out date – for example Steak Pie advertised as 9.95 is in reality £12 – such false advertising, which the management will probably claim is an oversight of web design, but might also be marketing. Two of us shared the combo starter (also wrong price advertised online) – for £10 it was a sad & pathetic offering. We were both surprised what was served, to a point where we checked we really had been served a combo for 2 adults – and not a kids portion. As described in the menu but as minimalist as possible, 2 chicken goujons smaller than my little finger, 2 small potato skins, 2 tiny triangles of prawn toast, 4 onion rings – the frozen deep fried type – and 2 spring rolls as thin as the goujons. It really did look pathetic, and appalling value for money at £10. Trying to ignore my disappointment of the appetisers, I looked forward to my steak pie, sadly the reality didn’t live upto the £12 price tag…the shortcrust pastry pie was approx. 4 inches in diameter, and had minimalist steak in it – clearly minimising ingredients for maximising profit. 3 of us had traditional meals, 1 had Thai curry – he was the only one happy. Maybe my fault for not choosing the Thai options – but there was no way I was going to have a dessert based on the previous courses. My colleagues did have desserts. We had mentioned the size of mixed combo when it arrived, and after the short, busy reply – decided to pay up & leave – feeling disappointed & ripped off. Three days later I am cross that it was me that recommended Blackwell Ox based on the reviews & and online menu which is out of date. Checking back on trip advisor, all the recent reviews are for the thai dishes…wish we had gone to the...

Went for Tea at 4pm. Pub was empty. I asked the barman if they were still serving food and he just said NO without any explanation as to why not. I asked if they were serving food at all and he told me that food wasnt served until 5pm. We decided to wait and we ordered some drinks. Asked for some pork scratchings later which they didnt have so we told barman we would wait for our tea and ordered 2 more cokes .Family came in later asking for food and he told them it wasnt served until 5 so they asked if they could book a table. He told them they were fully booked and he couldnt fit them in. We had sat there for 40 mins already waiting for 5 oclock so we could order our food and not once did the barman inform us that at 5 we wouldnt be able to get a table even though he knew we were waiting to order food .. I cant believe how rude unfriendly and patronising he was telling me he didnt know we had come in for food ( which was a blatent lie) as some customers just come in for drinks and how was he supposed to know we wanted food. I pointed out to him that my first question was are you still serving food? his answer was no and my second question was will you be serving food later and if so what time? He said I apologise for that madam in the most condesending tone ever . Our experience today was awful and we wont be back. We went to Y Thai in Stokesley and We had a wonderful meal and the staff were very friendly...
