Visited Friday evening in a party of 9 for evening meal (pre booked and pre ordered food). Setting of pub is beautiful. Having pre ordered main meal, the food was brought out hot and ready, however we had only been seated max 5 mins before it was on the table. Food was delicious however menu would benefit from more description. For example, the 'pork belly' was a pork loin and the southern fried chicken burger was rather spicy. For desserts, information on options that were gluten free were conflicting. The menu online said one thing, the staff were saying another, and the physical menu provided said something else. Did not fulfil us with confidence. Desserts also could do with further description on the menu. The 'Eton mess' was cream with a dusting of meringue, 4 berries and some fruit compote. A slight difference to what was expected. We were also assured that the manager would make herself known to the table due to dietary needs- however this did not happen. When making the reservation it was not made clear that a band was playing in the evening. Although this not being a problem as they were not due to start until 10pm. However, the sound check was done around 8:30pm and they started well before 10pm. The pub was heavily packed which meant that we could not access the toilet the other side of the bar easily (member of the party is pregnant). When wanting to pay the bill, it took over 20 minutes for this to be given and then a further 20+ minutes for the card machine to arrive. Additionally, on leaving, we had to navigate through the heavily packed crowd to exit. Definitely in need of some improvements.

I should have got a pic of my fish and chips but there are plenty of people have done so, equally as pleased I expect. A lovely venue, friendly staff and great food. The fish and chips was haddock and when it came I thought at first it was perhaps a bit over done, and the chips. It was not at all. It must be whatever is in the batter, it was perfectly crisps and the haddock, I've had other places locally and has had a strong taste, this didn't. If you had told me it was cod I wouldn't have known. Delicious and with a lovely view out across the boats. I was on my one and as I went in and asked the gent at the bar said no problem, there is a table about to become free and cleaned it for me to sit down. After my main I went and took a cosy seat on a sofa and ordered a desert, the photo I have included. Sticky banoffee pudding. It was also great. I'd happily visit this place again. It was a chance find and a good one.

Really disappointing, I had a meal a month previous and it was gorgeous. This time ordered chef special venison burger , price was around £13. When it turned up it was just a bun, with small burger, one leaf of baby gem lettuce and three thin slices of gherkin. No special sauce, not even mayo, tomato nothing. Even the waitress laughed, when I told her to tell the chef, "hardly a special" it was so dry it stripped every bit of moisture from my mouth. My daughter had onion rings on her meal. They were over cooked and it was not onion but onion skin. I told the bar man how disappointing the meal was and he did take £7 off bill. Such a shame as lovely spot.

We visited a few weeks ago and had Sunday lunch which was excellent and thought this could be a new favourite place the pub itself had been extremely well done and a nice place to be … HOWEVER after today’s experience I doubt we will return after being greeted by the waitress as we walked towards the bar and asked if we were eating with them today to which I replied yes we would be she replied ok you don’t need to be at the bar as it was waitress service and pointed to the area and said sit where you like .. I went towards the area however the area was extremely cold as all the windows were open and it was really cold and blowing a gale as it was raining outside .. so we decided to sit in another area of the pub in full sight of the bar and waitress staff .. we sat there patiently for around 25 minutes waiting for the waitress to come over and at least take our drinks order but she was to busy joking around and laughing with the barman … eventually the waitress came over and said as we were sat in the wrong place we had to go to the bar to order food and drinks which was an absolute joke as this pub if you ever visit is actually all open plan and the fact we had been sat without the drinks I was going to the bar to order when we first arrived was bad to say the least anyway we bit our lips and went to the bar to order … I ordered from the menu an OPEN prawn sandwich and my parter fancied a prawn cocktail and we ordered the drinks .. the food arrived by the waitress without a smile … I was presented with a prawn sandwich that was not open but on the cheapest bread you could possibly buy that was curled up and dry as though it had been left on the side for a few weeks I actually thought perhaps it was badly toasted bit no it was just terrible bread I said to the waitress this is meant to be an open prawn sandwich according to the menu … it was horrendous… I complained and sent it back without eating any of it and asked for it to be refunded … my partner’s prawn cocktail was terrible she left more than half of it as she didn’t want to make a fuss the prawns were chewy and very dry … the waitress never returned with the card machine to refund my meal there was no apology so I had to go back to the bar to ask for the refund on my meal … WHAT A SHAME i don’t think i will be recommending to anyone else as I had been doing after the Sunday roast … hopefully the manager or owner gets to see this as it’s a real shame as there has obviously been a great deal of money spent in the refurbishment...

We booked a table for almost 30 people and when I say a table that’s what we asked for 1 long table but instead got 3 separate ones so we weren’t able to sit as a family, this was a birthday meal for our nan and possibly her last birthday and we trusted you to make it a memorable occasion, and while you did make it memorable it wasn’t in a good way, your 2 female servers were lovely, however the management were rude and unprofessional, we pre ordered our food with the deposit paid, wrong food came out and the right food was terrible, Wetherspoons could have done better at half the price, but we let that go, the children’s deserts that were advertised as sundae which in fact was a scoop of ice cream had to be chased and when it came out was just dumped on the side for us to go and get. Then the main carnage, THE BILL…. When you have a large booking surely you expect people to pay separately for what they’ve had?? But no, he expected one of us to pay for the whole thing as he was far to incompetent to do separate billing, I don’t understand what the problem was, why was it so difficult to take separate payments? He was rude and aggressive to several members of the family and insisted my sister write individual tickets for everyone, which she did, however he still after that expected one whole payment, what was the point in her writing out tickets? Also do you always expect your customers to do your job for free?? We came for a meal not an interview although we were more able! So after pissing everyone off and ruining the night the only choice we were left with was for everyone to send me the money and I pay the whole bill, if we had done it the way he was expecting the deposit money wouldn’t of come off and he would of got an extra Ā£130, we would of been happy to leave a tip if we had got the service we had paid for. Please don’t reply with ā€œI’m sorry for your experience , we take all feedback on boardā€ that’s just insulting. You’ve had plenty of complaints from the whole family so I suggest you do the right thing and offer a refund, and a sincere apology, preferably from the incompetent rude manager. maybe we can then find another way to celebrate with our nan who deserved a lot more than she got from...
