Wish I could leave 0 stars! Worst pub in and around Devizes area for sure! (Especially after new management!)

Family of 4, we booked a table, arrived and not one of them seemed to know what they were doing, we ordered our drinks and tried to pay, no one would take the money we actually had to ask if we pay here or at the end to which we got “ummm I don’t know, are you on a table?” Which we replied “yes”, and they still seemed unsure, anyway we sat down and waited for a menu… same girl dropped her note pad down in front of me and swore loud enough for the people stood at the bar to hear! no menu was presented we get told there are only 3 options, pork roast, beef roast or vegan sausages option… that is literally it! Appalling! We all decide we would like beef (no price or menu presented so we were left to assume and guess what we would get on our plates and how much they would cost) Dinners arrived 35 minutes after ordering them which honestly was the best bit about the service (not too long) however when they arrived we all looked down at our food in disbelief all most likely thinking the same (where’s the rest!!?) we sat there patiently waiting for condiments (which never arrived) and veg to come out which wasn’t much either I believe it was just cauliflower cheese and gravy both enough to feed 1 maybe 2 at a push (NOT 4!) Two of our party’s Yorkshire pudding was cremated and one bounced when we dropped it in the middle of the table, the meat was cold on all 4 of our plates, all the veg seemed very limited yet burnt, flavourless and bare. I believe we had cold pees, 1 very small parsnip about the size of a thumb and two small black cremated things which turned out to be beetroot! One party member believed beet root should not go on a roast dinner but that’s besides the point, it was so black along with the rest of the meal we couldn’t tell what was what!

The gravy was honestly so watery I think if it was in a glass you would be able to see through it and that’s NOT an exaggeration in the slightest! I believe everyone had 2 roasties each which both on every plate were mega hot compared to the rest of the cold meal and must of been microwaved, either that or the rest of the meal was sat there for at-least 10 minutes waiting for the roasties (which isn’t on!)

After a few minutes of discussing between OURSELVES that the food is cold, service has been appalling and if we should or shouldn’t walk out and just pay for the drinks a snotty lady from behind the bar bellowed “what’s wrong with it then” instead of politely coming over and apologising and asking us what’s wrong with the meal privately she decided to do it from the bar to which I decided - I’ll reply right where I am as well, I told her what was wrong with it, again no apology she just picked up the plates and that’s when one of the party said “we will pay for the drinks and leave” I mentioned to my partner privately that the food was damn right appalling… as she barged past us with our four plates she added “there’s no need to swear” I think something must of upset her and she wanted to argue, maybe because we didn’t eat the awful food? One final complaint, £17 almost for two cokes, one peroni (bottle 350ml) and one gin and lemonade (I was asked when to stop with the lemonade) there really wasn’t much gin in the glass to begin with!

Anyway I have to say I’m going to leave an outstanding review on Toby carvery as we immediately called them as we left and the squeezed us in just 25 minutes later and the food was out of this world - as always. I think I’ve been there roughly 6-7 times and not once have I had anything to complain about in the slightest! People must understand the bridge inn is under new management so any reviews 3 weeks prior to this date were reviews based on old management! Do not waste your time or money here!

I barley every leave reviews especially bad ones! But this I feel was 100% warranted and I cannot stress enough I am not expressing out of anger...

Very disappointing. I took my Mum in there for tea on Saturday evening and was spoken to most rudely buy the landlady/chef. As I pescatarian I ordered 'Salmon fillet with dauphinois potatoes and french peas'. When it arrived I noticed lots of ham amongst the peas. I politely said to the waitress that I didn't eat meat and I I hadn't realised there was meat in it. She went to fetch the landlady/chef, who before saying anything else to me said 'if you google french peas you'll see it's supposed to have ham in it'. I don't know about you, but generally I don't google the food I'm ordering, I look at the menu. She said 'as you can see there's no 'V' by it on the menu so you should have known it wasn't vegetarian...' (Well the dead fish on the top of it might have been a problem there too...?) anyway she reluctantly agreed to scrape the potatoes and fish on to another plate without the 'French peas' and we got our tea down our necks (after getting the rather bitter taste from my mouth!) and left pretty promptly. I don't think it would have been hard for her to just say 'oh sorry you didn't know, but French peas actually have ham in them' rather than 'if you google French peas etc'. Anyway, I did google french peas and there was no mention of ham, just peas, lettuce and onion. There was a variety called 'french peas and bacon', but I probably wouldn't have ordered them as I...

It was quite busy the night we came in, but because we reserved a table we could walk right in (our name was on the table) and we got our orders taken quite quickly.

Our order was a bit complicated and perhaps large (some bits to share, that we wanted served with the main course of 5 people) so we had to wait a while for our food to get to us.

That didn't feel like a chore though, since the ambience was very comforting and due to several seating area's, there wasn't any distracting noise around us.

We did check out the garden which looked lovely, but quite full and loud (kids running around, etc.) which is why we stayed with our inside table.

Food was simply good and we liked our options (good price range in our opinion). Plenty of sauces on the table, so we didn't have to ask for anything.

All the employees were very nice and helpful. Very appreciated by us as Dutch tourists who needed a bit of advice on what drinks to order! We had a little bit of a hard time paying with our European debit card, but the employees were very kind about it and quickly resolved the issue.

Another thing of note was that the toilets were proper clean.

All in all, this just felt exactly like what we wanted: cosy, comforting and a good home...

Located adjacent to the Kennet & Avon Canal, this small country pub with its pleasant outdoor patio seemed inviting. Our only visit occurred on a Thursday evening in late June, 2018. Upon our arrival, since the parking lot was full of cars, we we guessed the food and atmosphere would be great. When we attempted to place an order for dinner, we were disappointed to learn that any cooked-to-order meal would require a minimum wait of 40 minutes. Instead, the host recommended the pub's special for that evening: a pizza, pasta and salad bar. We agreed, ordered one beer each, and migrated to the outdoor patio. Most other patrons were only enjoying the warm evening drinking beer. Our visit to the pizza, pasta and salad bar was disappointing. Although none of the food was bad, none of the food was particularly good. If one would like a beer in a pleasant pub, this is a fine choice. We would recommend diners consider an alternative restaurant for dinner.

Charming country pub with lots of character. We visited on a bank holiday Monday for a bite to eat, and were quickly shown to a table in the corner of the pub. The atmosphere is very much what you'd expect from an old country pub, warm and cosy without feeling like it's trying too hard. This is complimented perfectly by what can only be described as probably the best playlist I've heard in a pub (any pub that plays Meatloaf at noon is a winner in my books!!). All the staff were extremely attentive and polite, making sure our drink were always topped up if needed. Our food came quickly and was to a high standard - everything you'd expect from a place like this. Normally I would say that Two Out of Three Ain't Bad. But in this case it's definitely a three out of three; I would definitely recommend stopping at The Bridge Inn. I look forward to visiting again over the summer and trying out the beer garden.
