Went for a festive meal with family. Meal was good but could have been better. Starters were lovely especially the soup and mushrooms. The turkey main was a little disappointing. The turkey itself was very tasty, roast potatoes a little anaemic and only two of them. It could be improved by including the trimmings - pig in blanket, stuffing, roast parsnip. I really can't fault this village pub. We visited in early January for an evening meal, the welcome was genuine which was complimented by good food and drink. Having returned to the area to catch up with friends earlier this month, we again chose to eat here, we were not disappointed. The same pleasant welcome, really enjoyable food and good ales. Friends and their children joined us later, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food is varied and the steak that I had was cooked as ordered. Off the beaten track but definitely worth the trip through beautiful countryside and stunning villages. Sunday lunch was superb - I had roast sirloin of beef with beautifully sweet roasted carrots, crisp roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding filled with bacon and sprouts. The extensive burger menu was appreciated especially by the chilli fan in our family. The kids menu was great. Puddings didn't disappoint with sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie particularly good.
