The establishment was recommended to my family by the owners of the villa we were renting so naturally we were looking forward to a visit particularly with the reviews showcased here. We booked a table for 17.30 as we were told it was busy this evening with reservations. On arrival, there was only one family sat at a table who ordered when we got there! Once food was ordered (child's burger, classic burger and steak pie) I ordered drinks to which I spotted the glass that was handed to me was filthy. Thankfully the barman changed it as he noticed me staring at it. I had to ask for ice however. The wait on food was up to an hour. Yes I know there's a notification on the wait on food but there was only one family before us. When we received the child's burger, it was exactly same size as classic burger, just the classic burger had very dry coleslaw placed on it. The steak pie I had was more like a dry pastry roll with a tiny portion of gravy. The napkins we were given were soaking wet, and when I requested fresh ones, they were wet again. The eating experience was not pleasant at all as there were flies everywhere, settling on our food and making the eating experience very anxious. We struggled to finish the final meals and just wanted to leave. When I expressed dissatisfaction with final meal to the barman, he very kindly removed one of the meals from the final bill. He did tell me 'the fly issue' has been going on for a while! If that's the case then something needs to be done about it. I did apologise to him as I'm someone who rarely puts in a complaint but I feel its necessary to advise visitors to be careful. Hopefully some of the above issues will be resolved in the future so that holidaying families can have a...

We recently had a one night, midweek stopover in our motorhome at The Bull Inn.

The pub is in a lovely quiet village, free to stopover, dog friendly throughout, and 2 miles from Filey and 7 miles from Scarborough. It has a large beer garden with picnic benches. Staff and locals were very friendly.

We didn't ring in advance, but, having previously seen good reviews on here, we just popped in and asked if they could accommodate us. Luckily the manager said no problem, as long as you have a drink. No problem for us as we always eat and drink when stopping over. The car park is massive, and midweek, we had the pick on where to park. Though sloping, we found a fairly level spot, and parked without ramps. We had a lovely rural outlook, and very quiet through the night.

The pub serves a large menu, which is excellent value. I had the steak pie and chips, served with 3 veg and gravy - the pie was packed with delicious steak chunks. My wife had the rack of ribs, which she really enjoyed. Both great meals for just £11.95 each.

Booking a table to eat is advisable, as it was almost full by 6.00pm.

And the basics - no EHU, and no fluid...

So disappointed in this pub/restaurant. Google reviews looked fantastic but the reality is rather different. We waited nearly an hour for our meal (yes, we know they were busy, but an hour?) When it finally arrived, (two portions of bacon cheeseburgers) it looked delicious, but when I tried to cut the burger, it was as tough as old boots. The bacon on top was chewy and the burger itself was dry, hard round the outside edge and too tough to chew. The chips were so hot, I couldn't eat them. The coleslaw/salad was hard and sour tasting. Neither I nor my husband was able to eat the meal and we were thankful we had opened a tab and not paid up front. We had ordered a diet coke which was the concentrate out of a tap) and a fresh orange and lemonade. We got a bill for £8.00 for those! No chance were we paying for that after the fiasco with the food. The waitress was not happy and told us to speak to the manager, who said ok. No apology, no offer of something else from the menu... customer service is totally lacking at this establishment. I'm glad everyone else seemed to be happy with their meals...sadly we were not and cannot recommend The...

What a lovely place with a welcoming staff and a roaring fire. The pub must be about 600 years old and it has retained its character well. The carvings on the bar are something quite special. We have been in a few times since the new Landlord/lady took over and it’s hasn’t disappointed. We even came for Christmas Day and the food was incredible. We had heard that the chef had changed over the New Year so we came in for Sunday Dinner today. We were not disappointed. The proportions are big and the quality is really good. Piping hot too. We will certainly be back again and I’d have no issues recommending it to anyone - just don’t bother with breakfast before you go!! Kids seem to be most welcome and there is good disabled access. The car park is huge and is matched by the size of the beer garden (which will be outstanding in summer!!).

Always eaten here ,we have a caravan at primrose valley, and always recommend bull in to our friends and guests, not no more ,the main course was nice ,but we had garlic mushrooms as a starter ,which we have always enjoyed before, this time they were shocking and tasted of vinegar and not of garlic ,we told the waiter ,we were not happy with the starter and we couldn't eat it ,when I asked for the bill I was charged for the 2 starters,I asked 2 speak to the manager, who came out of the kitchen ,she was rude and said I had to pay ,NEVER AGAIN BULL IN
