Tucked away in the quiet greenery of East Creech, just a short drive from Corfe Castle, The Cake House is one of those places you stumble upon and instantly want to share with everyone you know—though a small part of you is tempted to keep it secret.

Set beside a wonderfully relaxed farm (free to explore, and full of friendly animals), the café opens out onto a peaceful garden where children and dogs roam freely. We sat outdoors, surrounded by trees and fresh country air, and enjoyed some of the best homemade cakes I’ve had in ages.

We sampled four: the Hummingbird was the standout—light, moist, and gently spiced, with banana giving it a subtle tropical lift. The Carrot Cake was rich, nutty, and beautifully balanced; the Lemon & Blueberry hit all the right notes—zesty without being sharp, sweet without being cloying. The Biscoff Brownie, sadly, didn’t quite keep pace with the others—pleasant in flavour but too dry for my liking.

After our cake-fuelled pause, we wandered through the farm, where we were delighted to find everything from ponies to ostriches. The path isn’t perfectly smooth, but we managed it with a pushchair without much trouble.

If you find yourself in the area, this is a perfect countryside stop—fresh cakes, fresh air, and a farm full of charm. A treat for families, cake-lovers, and curious...

Been here before and no wasps this time. Good food and cakes but the service is glacial, prices higher and portions smaller (they must count out the crisps individually). I infer management sees things from their perspective but is incapable of seeing through the lens of a customer. Avoid at busy lunchtimes on a wet day or a hot, sunny day. There are 3 trees providing spots of shade but they are strategically positioned, along with the picnic-style tables, to deny you any shade, reinforced by no parasols being provided for the hole in each table. It yields a rapid turnover I suppose. Any dogs in the garden room (only small space if wet or need shade) will leave you a nervous wreck if they see a dog outside. You can't see what you are ordering through the window (please speak clearly through the microphone/speaker) and you need to be a contortionist to duck under and up to pay with a credit card or phone. Careful if you chat freely with your company because you won't hear your number called as they leave the tray outside the service door and your hot food and drinks won't be when you eventually ask how much longer your...

It says a lot that I have chosen to go here for my birthday weekend two years in a row. It is a little out of the way but that just means it is quiet, and sits in the idyllic British countryside being awesome!

The menu is fairly limited, small but perfectly formed. Outstanding home baked cakes and desserts a-plenty. My go-to is the granola slice, a seed and fruit enfused flapjack in steroids! My wife loves the sponge cakes. I love their sandwiches too. Cheese and gammon with ale chutney on a quality granary bread is my favourite and is always accompanied by a decent side salad and coleslaw. (All for a fair price)

The cream tea is lovely and the beverage range is great with options for all tastes. I usually have tea or coffee but the better half likes the orange juice.

Highly recommended - I just wish they offered a loyalty card scheme for...

The Cake House is my new favourite Cream-tea spot. The children can run wild and pet the animals and chase the chickens whilst the adults relax and enjoy a delicious cream-tea with beautiful views of the county side. A clean and tidy uni-sex toilet is available and parking is just across the road with very easy access. The prices are fair and the food is freshly prepared. The only gripe would be the paper cups; however, there were a few wasps about so the lid kept those pesky little buggers out of my tasty beverage. I would thoroughly recommend the Cake House. Even though it is a little out of the way, it was certainly worth the drive and shall definitely be back.

A lovely tea shop offering a very wide choice of drink, both hot and cold, and an amazing range of cakes, breakfasts and lunch items Very friendly and helpful staff members The seating areas are wonderful both indoors and out (just watch out for a couple of wasps) A nice animal viewing area that the kids loved and kept them entertained The only very minor issues with the site were that the entrance from the car park was steep and straight onto the road and a few garden umbrellas would have been nice to give shade for the tables I would definitely recommend this place and will visit again the next time I'm passing
