Booked for our final Meal in Cornwall which coincided with a birthday. The food to be honest was all nice, however the service was far from good and in fact the worst I have experienced. Three times I had to go to the bar to ask for drink, empty plate to be removed and condiments to be brought. The final nail was when they brought the birthday cake we had taken, unfortunately the person who’s birthday it was had gone to the bathroom. When we said they were not there the reply was I hope the candle done burn out. They need either more staff, better trading or maybe staff who give a dam. Would never go near the place again.
EDIT:- for the point of accuracy, yes the food was good and yes you did reduce the bill. At first offering a 15% discount which you thought was more than adequate. However the bill came to £102.00 not the £114.00 stated and I offered to pay half. To put this in context, what I paid would have more than covered your costs, why you feel you need to argue still, it was not just us, we all felt ( our table and the other two in the “function room as you call it “ ) all felt let down. But yet on all my visits to the bar the three staff working where always stud at or around the bar. With one of them stud talking to a couple at a table by the bar, while we were all looking at empty plates and glasses. No offer of pudding menu, and yes you did offer a drink, but we had had enough of sat looking at dirty plates and had booked a taxi to get...
Read moreSome of the poorest pub food I have ever suffered. The so-called crab starter had no discernible crab in it. It was basically a deep fried rissoto rissole. The monkfish main was a disaster. The menu said it was wrapped in parma ham but it turned up with none. After sending it back, it was returned with two pieces of ham cooked to a crisp balanced on it. The fish was overcooked and tasteless ... completely unseasoned. And the same went for the sea vegetables underneath. A totally flavourless dish. My wife's pork belly dish was also a road crash. Soggy layer of fat on barely acceptable meat with stodgy potatoes and vegetables swamped in a not very good rhubarb sauce. After being offered coffee we ordered flat whites. When two huge mugs turned up we knew we should have known better. Milky weak coffee was what we got. Our waitress was sweet but clueless When I asked what the flat iron steak on the menu was she said that was the name of the cut. When I inquired further about what cut it was she told me it came from 'somewhere else' on the animal than a ribeye. I lost the will to live at that point and ordered the fish. Bad mistake on my part. I should have made an excuse and left, saving myself the best part of 40 quid and a bad dose of...
Read moreFamily booked for a group of 9, having had lovely evening previously, only to be bitterly disappointed. Restaurant ill-prepared & service poor. Despite booking for 9, waiter seemed confused & table not available when arrived, family members helped push tables together to sit 9. Waited a long time for beverages; 2 bottles of wine served with no glasses to follow & both wines different, despite asking for same; some beverages missed out so had to be reordered. One meal served with items missing, which followed once queried afterwards. Another meal ordered which was no longer available but chips for this still served. Portion sizes & quality varied compared to previous visit; Scampi slightly undercooked & chips disappointing. Despite showing empathy to waiter that problems can occur, restaurant failed to acknowledge it's poor organisation, service & food quality in final bill, where full amount was charged. On this occasion, no tip was left & sadly we will not be returning. Another table nearby complained on...
