We had the pleasure of dining at The Castle Hotel & Pub after our performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream last Saturday night at the beautiful Soulton Hall. Amy, Jackie, and Em were an absolute dream to book with. We arrived to a lively atmosphere of singing but were happily moved to the meeting room for a more intimate night with our exhausted and hungry company. Any other night we would have happily joined in on the karaoke! The vegetarian chilli was delicious and our company raved about it for the rest of the weekend. Read moreMy friend and I went at lunchtime. The staff were friendly and the pub has a nice ambiance. However we were very disappointed with our food. I had a bacon bap with cheese and mushrooms. It was all cold except for the mushrooms which were tepid. My friend ordered ‘Proper cheese on toast’ as described in the menu. Read moreI've only given 1 star as there isn't a minus option. If you want to enjoy decent quality food, but be surrounded by young and not so young men, arm wrestling and using foul language. Then this is the place to go!!!. My wife and i have eaten here many times over the years, but we will never return. I appreciate that profit is King in the hostelry business these days, but not to the extent where customers feel uncomfortable and can't wait to leave.
