So food was excellent, everyone in the party had a great meal I had the ribeye and this has been the best cut and cooked steak eating out I’ve had in a long time and will definitely recommend. Other meals included the gammon and pork belly which were also enjoyed. Seemed a fine place to have a drink if that’s all you’re after. Ultimately if you’re looking for a pub meal top quality.

Brilliant place. Great service, great steak on steak night. Hatfield and Jackie were lovely and attentive. We had an early reservation which is why it looks empty in photo but it soon filled up. Beer garden lovely. Plenty of seating....the double seats a little uncomfortable but nonetheless, great atmosphere. Owner/manager very pleasant and helpful. Sad we live 2 hours away!

Great all round. Lovely beer, tried two Joules beers, great homemade chicken curry (Wednesday offer for curry and a pint £9:95) Great friendly service. Nice ambience. Looking forward to trying the Sunday Carvery. Five minutes walk from the railway station.

We had the pleasure of dining at The Castle Hotel & Pub after our performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream last Saturday night at the beautiful Soulton Hall. Amy, Jackie, and Em were an absolute dream to book with. We arrived to a lively atmosphere of singing but were happily moved to the meeting room for a more intimate night with our exhausted and hungry company. Any other night we would have happily joined in on the karaoke! The vegetarian chilli was delicious and our company raved about it for the rest of the weekend. We plan to be back again, hopefully when the kitchen is officially open! Thank you...

My friend and I went at lunchtime. The staff were friendly and the pub has a nice ambiance. However we were very disappointed with our food. I had a bacon bap with cheese and mushrooms. It was all cold except for the mushrooms which were tepid. My friend ordered ‘Proper cheese on toast’ as described in the menu. What she got was two slices of thin brown bread which had cheese barely melted under the grill. The base of the bread was just that, bread, not toast. Surely someone could do a better job than that! I have been to many Joules pubs and usually the...

I've only given 1 star as there isn't a minus option. If you want to enjoy decent quality food, but be surrounded by young and not so young men, arm wrestling and using foul language. Then this is the place to go!!!. My wife and i have eaten here many times over the years, but we will never return. I appreciate that profit is King in the hostelry business these days, but not to the extent where customers feel uncomfortable and can't wait to leave. Staff were aware of the situation but simply saying "you shouldn't be doing that"...
