What a disappointing experience.

A beautiful building, glorious setting, the most charming and friendly staff imaginable - and possibly the most revolting sandwiches ever served.

I know that Peregrine doesn't really have to worry about a few quid here or there, but as a representation of what can - and should - be great about England this is a travesty.

The most humble coffee shop - may I suggest Apricot Meringue in Clitheroe as an example - showcases wonderful local produce.

British Rail c1972 is the most positive comment I can make about the Cavendish Pavillion. Please make your establishment a place that visitors will want to come back to time after time. Please don't make us embarrassed when visitors from far and wide are served a ham sandwich with margarine in it but with damn all else. Please help give our poor country a little faith in those who are born to power, but exercise that power, as far as refreshments are concerned, in the most disinterested manner imaginable.

Wild horses could not...

We visited the Cavendish Pavilion CAFE on our visit to Bolton Abbey after our 9 mile river walk , the last time we visited was a few years ago when we were presented with well cooked tasty warm food served correctly With crockery and cutlery , now you have to queue up to purchase pre-packed sandwiches and a coffee and hot chocolate served in paper cups , it’s not cheap and they could do far better ,The building is large and could be a little goldmine if ran correctly by somebody Who cares about customer service and standards , and for a place with so many dog walkers it isn’t even dog friendly , overall we were very disappointed in the service and standard of the Cavendish pavilion , if you want A lovely meal or just a piece of cake call-in at the abbey tea rooms for a substantial meal, or cake and a warm coffee served in crockery not paper cups with friendly staff not just kids serving, overall I recommend you walk to the Devonshire Arms and call in at the café over the road for better service and...

Lovely tea room with a great variety of fresh goods, tasty snacks, and spacious seating. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by one rude staff member. We came for their fresh ice cream, but were told it had closed early — oddly, possibly due to laziness or being understaffed, the large man behind the counter didn't give a clear reason why. The same man stared at me and my husband as soon as we walked in and gave attitude when we asked for disposable spoons for the freezer ice cream. Though my husband spoke clearly, he exaggeratedly waved his hand like a volume knob and cupped his ear instead of responding politely. It felt dismissive and condescending. He seemed miserable working there and didn't have positive customer service skills. Very rude and negative for no reason. I also didn’t like how the baked goods were left uncovered — exposed to air and touch — which seemed unprofessional. Aside from that, the place is nice and decor is beautiful; just try to visit earlier as items sell...

Went here to do the simon’s seat walk. I didn’t go in the cafe but used the toilets which were nice and clean. Absolutely stunning scenery, so many different routes and types of walks available in this area. Highly recommend to professionals and amateurs alike. I did find for a first time walker there that routes were not very clear, there’s very few signs along the way and we did manage to go wrong which meant a much long walk, that we were grateful for as it was very nice but I think people wanting to do a particular route might struggle if they don’t know the area. It’s £10 to park in the allocated car park’s which is extortionate. That is per car, so recommend that if there’s a group do it in as few cars as possible. We were given a map with entry but that doesn’t help to direct you just give you an idea of some routes and starting points.

We had a great day out at Bolton Priory. It was our first visit and although very busy parking spaces were still avaliable in all the car parks. We took a picnic with us so we only had ice cream but it was perfect on such a warm day. When the weather is good and the river is low it's a great place for a swim and paddle. Jumping over the stepping stones is also great fun and there's miles and miles of paths th be explored. The bottom car park is BBQ friendly so that's something were definitely going to go back and do. The only critism is that the Toliets were closed off apparently yo save water leaving portable toliets and alcohol gel for thousands of people. Last but not least is the stunning priory and ruins well worth a look set in the rolling dales.
